Under China's "Dual Carbon Goal", the wastewater treatment system plays a crucial role in the country's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. However, a lack of baseline emissions data poses challenges for decarbonization efforts. This study aims to profile and diagnose the GHG emissions of China's entire wastewater system and identify key contributing factors.

The Coronal Plane Alignment of the Knee (CPAK) classification introduced in 2021 provides a nuanced method for categorizing knee alignment. This study aimed to evaluate the distribution of CPAK types among Chinese patients with osteoarthritis (OA) and clarify the differences in surgical outcomes among different CPAK types.

The purpose of this multicenter, prospective, randomized controlled trial (RCT) was to determine whether robotic-arm-assisted TKA improves clinical and radiological outcomes when compared to conventional TKA.
Methods: One hundred and thirty patients who underwent primary TKA were enrolled in this prospective, randomized controlled trial, which was conducted at three hospitals.
Rapid assembly of quinoxalines in a single step from readily available precursors has been recognized as an ideal platform in terms of efficiency and operation. Herein, we report a BPO-promoted metal-free approach to 2-acyl quinoxalines from enaminones and -phenylenediamines cascade transamination and C-H amination. This methodology demonstrates excellent compatibility with various substrates, including -hydroxy enaminones, drug derivatives and natural products under mild reaction conditions.

Youhua Kuijie formula is a classic empirical prescription based on the pathogenesis of UC. The present study was designed to verify the protective effect of Youhua Kuijie formula on DSS-induced UC in mice and uncover the related mechanism.

The purpose of this study was to compare alignment accuracy and early clinical outcomes between a CT-based, saw cutting robotic system (MAKO) and a CT-free, jig-guided robotic system (ROSA) for total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Methods: A total of 20 MAKO TKAs and 20 ROSA TKAs from June 2021 to June 2022 were retrospectively analyzed.
Polystyrene nanoplastics (PS-NPs), a group of ubiquitous pollutants, may injure the central nervous system through the blood‒brain barrier (BBB). However, whether exposure to PS-NPs contributes to BBB disruption and the underlying mechanisms are still unclear. In vivo, we found that PS-NPs (25 mg/kg BW) could significantly increase BBB permeability in mice and downregulate the distribution of the tight junction-associated protein zona occludens 1 (ZO-1) in brain microvascular endothelial cells (BMECs).

In this study, we evaluated the primary stability of a novel three-dimensional (3D)-printed custom-made metaphyseal cone for Anderson Orthopedic Research Institute (AORI) IIb or III bone defect reconstruction in tibial revision knee arthroplasty using the combination of finite-element analysis and biomechanical experiments.
Methods: In the finite-element analysis, AORI II b and III medial tibial bone defects were designed at varying depths.
The elaboration of step-economy and catalytic approaches for accessing diverse fluorinated heterocyclics is highly desirable. Described herein is a radical-polar crossover enabled three-component cyclization to polysubstituted fluoropyrazoles by using CFBr as a novel C1F1 synthon. Mechanistic experiments revealed that the generation of the reactive intermediate -difluorovinylimine ion is the key to this transformation.

This study explored the demographic and radiographic factors for knee symptoms and ROM in patients with symptomatic KOA.
Methods: The demographic variables, Kellgren-Lawrence (KL) grade, and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) of patients with symptomatic KOA recruited in Beijing were collected.
Herein, we present a practical strategy for the direct construction of structurally diverse trifluoromethyl carbinol-containing compounds, especially CF-substituted tertiary alcohol with chromone derivatives from easily available -hydroxyaryl enaminones and trifluoroacetaldehyde/ketone derivatives under metal-free conditions. This reaction features a broad substrate scope with good yields and is easily scaled up. Notably, a one-pot in two-steps reaction of obtained products with amidines is also developed to provide a series of multi-substituted pyrimidine derivatives bearing two unique hydroxyls and one trifluoromethyl containing functional units.

Described herein is a regioselectivity-switchable formal [1 + 2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction from difluoroalkyl compounds, enaminones, and RNHNH, ultimately using 1-methylindazol-3-amine as a traceless mediator to switch the inherent regioselectivity of 1,3,4-trisubstituted pyrazole formation to 1,4,5-trisubstituted pyrazoles. Remarkable features of this work include mild conditions, simple operation, and broad scopes.

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a common postoperative complication of knee/hip arthroplasty. There is a continued need for artificial intelligence-based methods of predicting lower extremity DVT risk after knee/hip arthroplasty. In this study, we performed a retrospective study to analyse the data from patients who underwent primary knee/hip arthroplasty between January 2017 and December 2021 with postoperative bilateral lower extremity venous ultrasonography.

In order to promote osseointegration, implants are made porous, providing space for bone ingrowth. Despite extensive optimization of the pore geometry and porosity, bone ingrowth into implants is still marginal; further modification to promote bone ingrowth as well as osseointegration becomes paramount.

Here, we demonstrate that epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)/Wnt signaling induces β-catenin-mediated long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) LINC00973 expression to sponge CD55-targeting miR-216b and CD59-targeting miR-150. The consequently upregulated CD55/CD59 expression suppresses the complement system and cytokine secretion required for CD8 T cell activation.
