Urushiol is a resource-limited natural coating material with diverse applications; however, the synthesis of urushiol analogues and the realization of their urushiol-like performance remain challenging. Herein, four urushiol analogues, namely, 3-((4-alkenoylpiperazin-1-yl)methyl)catechols with the precise 3-substitution pattern on a catechol as that found in urushiol were synthesized by employing the Mannich reaction of catechol with formaldehyde and -Boc-piperazine as the key step in a two-step route. By using optimization, the advantages of convenience in operation, cost-effectiveness, and scalability could be obtained.

Convenient and time-saving one-step strategies for detecting ultralow concentrations of protein biomarkers play key roles in rapid disease diagnosis. Glutarate, a metabolic intermediate in the catabolism of several amino acids and aromatic compounds, can be catabolized through both the glutarate hydroxylation pathway and the glutaryl-coenzyme A (glutaryl-CoA) dehydrogenation pathway in KT2440. The elucidation of the regulatory mechanism could greatly aid in the design of biotechnological alternatives for glutarate production. In this study, it was found that a GntR family protein, CsiR, and a LysR family protein, GcdR, regulate the catabolism of glutarate by repressing the transcription of and , two key genes in the glutarate hydroxylation pathway, and by activating the transcription of and , two key genes in the glutaryl-CoA dehydrogenation pathway, respectively.

A composite of olivine lithium manganese iron phosphate (LiMnFePO), external carbon coating and internal embedded carbon flakes, EC-IC-LMFP, is prepared by using phytic acid (PhyA) as phosphorus source via solvothermal process followed by calcination. The composite with improved electronic conductivity and ion diffusivity presents an ultrahigh reversible specific capacity of 193 mAh g at 0.1 C, and an excellent cycling stability of 93% capacity retention after 100 cycles at 1 C when applied as a cathode material for Li-ion batteries (LIBs).

A highly sensitive and selective luminescent sensor for the detection of methyl parathion (MP) pesticide was described in this study. The target molecule HL was synthesized by modifying the structure of 4-hydroxybenzlidene imidazolinone (HBI) with nitrogen-containing heterocyclic 1,10-phenanthroline. The analysis of persistent organic pollutants, such as perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) including perfluorooctanoic acid (CFCOOH, PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (CFSO, PFOS) by hyphenated chromatography-mass spectrometry methods is crucial in ensuring water quality. Background: We used data released by the government to analyze the epidemiological distribution of pulmonary tuberculosis in mainland China from 2004 to 2015, in order to provide a deeper understanding of trends in the epidemiology of pulmonary tuberculosis in China and a theoretical basis to assess the effectiveness of government interventions and develop more targeted prevention and control strategies.

Methods: A discrete dynamic model was designed based on the epidemiological characteristics of pulmonary tuberculosis and fitted to data published by the government to estimate changes in indicators such as adequate contact rate, prevalence of non-treated pulmonary tuberculosis (abbreviated as prevalence), and infection rate. Finally, we performed sensitivity analyses of the effects of parameters on the population infection rate.
