Effects of Different Flotation Agents on the Nucleation and Growth of Potassium Chloride.

The flotation agent is an important collector in the production of potassium chloride and is brought into the crystallization stage with the reflux of the mother liquor. Octadecylamine Hydrochloride (ODA), 1-Dodecylamine Hydrochloride (DAH) and Sodium 1-dodecanesulfonate (SDS) were selected to study their effect on the nucleation of potassium chloride. Focused Beam Reflectance Measurement was used to collect the nucleation-induced periods of KCl in the presence of flotation agents at different supersaturations.

Biochar-enhanced agricultural application of liquid digestate from food waste anaerobic digestion for celery cultivation.

In this research, the performance of biochar-enhanced agricultural application of food waste liquid digestate for celery cultivation was investigated to reveal its utilization potential and environmental impacts. Liquid digestate demonstrated a good agronomic effect, with a significant fertilization efficiency of 42.3 % during celery growth.

Nanostructured-lipid carriers-Chitosan hydrogel beads carrier system for loading of resveratrol: A new method of topical application.

The aim of this study was to develop nanostructured-lipid carriers (NLC) encapsulated by Chitosan hydrogel beads for the efficient topical carrier. Dynamic light scattering (DLS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) were conducted to study the influence of the encapsulation on the characteristic of resveratrol-loaded NLC, and the results showed that there was no impact on resveratrol-loaded NLC. Chitosan hydrogel beads could significantly improve the physical stability of resveratrol-loaded NLC.

Detection and Tracking Meet Drones Challenge.

Drones, or general UAVs, equipped with cameras have been fast deployed with a wide range of applications, including agriculture, aerial photography, and surveillance. Consequently, automatic understanding of visual data collected from drones becomes highly demanding, bringing computer vision and drones more and more closely. To promote and track the developments of object detection and tracking algorithms, we have organized three challenge workshops in conjunction with ECCV 2018, ICCV 2019 and ECCV 2020, attracting more than 100 teams around the world.

Surgical treatment of mild to moderately dilated ascending aorta in bicuspid aortic valve aortopathy: the art of safety and simplicity.

Background: Evaluate the safety and efficacy of our modified technique of the extravascular procedure for treating mild to moderately dilated ascending aorta in patients with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) aortopathy.

Methods: From January 2015 to December 2018,119 consecutive patients with BAV and ascending aorta dilatation (dimension 40 mm~ 45 mm) were diagnosed in our institution. Among these,49 patients received aggressive aortic valve replace (AVR) + ascending aorta wrapped (wrapped group) while the other 70 patients received AVR + ascending aorta replacement (wheat group).

Evidence for Cross-Species Transmission of Covert Mortality Nodavirus to New Host of .

Viral covert mortality disease (VCMD), caused by covert mortality nodavirus (CMNV), is a newly emerging disease affecting most cultured shrimp and other crustaceans, but not fish. However, we discovered for the first time that , a common marine fish collecting from shrimp farming ponds and surrounding coastal waters in China, was tested to be CMNV positive based on reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) assay. Further investigation based on the quantitative RT-LAMP assay indicated that 39% individuals of sampled were CMNV positive.

To investigate the early supplementary processes of fishre sources in the Bohai Sea, the geographically weighted regression (GWR) was introduced to the habitat suitability index (HSI) model. The Bohai Sea larval Japanese Halfbeak HSI model was established with four environmental variables, including sea surface temperature (SST), sea surface salinity (SSS), water depth (DEP), and chlorophyll a concentration (Chl a). Results of the simulation showed that the four variables had different performances in August 2015.

Pilot-Scale Hydrolysis-Aerobic Treatment for Actual Municipal Wastewater: Performance and Microbial Community Analysis.

Low-energy cost wastewater treatment is required to change its current energy-intensive status. Although promising, the direct anaerobic digestion of municipal wastewater treatment faces challenges such as low organic content and low temperature, which require further development. The hydrolysis-aerobic system investigated in this study utilized the two well-proven processes of hydrolysis and aerobic oxidation.

Production of hydroxyl radicals from Fe(II) oxygenation induced by groundwater table fluctuations in a sand column.

Natural and artificial processes often cause the fluctuation of groundwater table, inducing the interaction of O from the unsaturated zone with reduced components such as Fe(II) from the saturated zone. In light of previous findings that hydroxyl radicals (OH) can be produced from Fe(II) oxygenation, we hypothesize that OH could be produced during groundwater table fluctuations. Therefore, this study aims to measure the production of OH during water table fluctuations in a simulated sand column.

Fungal communities in sediments of subtropical Chinese seas as estimated by DNA metabarcoding.

Ribosomal RNA internal transcribed spacer-1 (ITS1) metabarcoding was used to investigate the distribution patterns of fungal communities and the factors influencing these patterns in subtropical Chinese seas, including the southern and northern Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea. These seas were found to harbor high levels of fungal diversity, with 816 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) that span 130 known genera, 36 orders, 14 classes and 5 phyla. Ascomycota was the most abundant phylum, containing 72.

Does fat suppression via chemically selective saturation affect R2*-MRI for transfusional iron overload assessment? A clinical evaluation at 1.5T and 3T.

Purpose: Fat suppression (FS) via chemically selective saturation (CHESS) eliminates fat-water oscillations in multiecho gradient echo (mGRE) R2*-MRI. However, for increasing R2* values as seen with increasing liver iron content (LIC), the water signal spectrally overlaps with the CHESS band, which may alter R2*. We investigated the effect of CHESS on R2* and developed a heuristic correction for the observed CHESS-induced R2* changes.

Background: Peritoneal fibrosis is the major cause of ultrafiltration failure, and intraperitoneal administration of Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH) was reported to protect peritoneal function. But the exact mechanism of its influence on peritoneal structure and function is still unknown.

Risk factors of acute pancreatitis in the elderly Chinese population: a population-based cross-sectional study.

Objective: Lifestyle changes have led to an increasing incidence of acute pancreatitis (AP) in China. The aims of this study were to evaluate the association between lifestyle as well as medical history and AP in the elderly population and to provide evidence towards the prevention against AP.

Methods: A population-based cross-sectional study was conducted in Daqing, Heilongjiang Province, China.

Weedy rice represents an important resource for rice improvement. The F(1) hybrid between the japonica wide compatibility rice cultivar 02428 and a weedy rice accession from Yunnan province (SW China) suffered from pollen sterility. Pollen abortion in the hybrid occurred at the early bicellular pollen stage, as a result of mitotic failure in the microspore, although the tapetum developed normally.

Two new aromatic compounds, trans-(tetrahydro-2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-5-oxofuran-3-yl)methyl benzoate (1), 3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-2-oxopropyl benzoate (2) and one new natural product, 4-((E)-3-ethoxyprop-1-enyl)-2-methoxyphenol (3) together with five known aromatic compounds have been isolated from the resin of Styrax tonkinensis (Pier.) Craib. Their structures were determined by physical and spectroscopic methods.
