A new stag beetle species is described from Wuyishan National Park of Fujian, China, Lucanus qizhihaoi Lin, Su, Xin & Song, new species, which represents the easternmost distribution record of the L. boileaui group, previously known only from southwestern China and northern Indochina Peninsula. The current Wagner and Texas classifications of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are used worldwide to assess the extent of foot lesions, but wound treatment principles based on both the classification systems are lacking. We have summarized the STAGE principles of wound treatment for clinical practice based on the Wagner and Texas classification systems. The STAGE principles refer to the principles of surgical intervention during wound treatment of DFUs and emphasize that "based on anatomical layers, the management focuses on blood supply and includes layer-by-layer incision to the infected area, maintenance of effective wound drainage, and step-by-step treatment of the wound.

In order to investigate the effect of vitamin A (VA) on the secretion of IFN-gamma and IL-4 in Mycoplasma Pneumoniae (MP)-induced A549 cells, A549 cells were co-cultured with MP for different time lengths and then the levels of IFN-gamma and IL-4 in the cell culture supernatants were detected before and after treatment with different concentrations of VA by using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The results showed that the level of IFN-gamma and IL-4 in the supernatants of MP-induced A549 cells was much higher than that in non-induced cells (P<0.01).

The serum lectins mannose-binding lectin (MBL), L-ficolin, and H-ficolin are recognition molecules in the lectin complement pathway, which play an important role in innate immunity. To assess involvement of the lectin pathway in the clearance of apoptotic cells, we used flow cytometry to quantify binding of MBL, L-ficolin, and H-ficolin to apoptotic HL60, U937, and Jurkat cells induced by actinomycin D. When apoptotic cells were incubated with normal human serum, MBL and L-ficolin bound to all three cell lines tested; moreover, H-ficolin bound to apoptotic Jurkat cells only.
