Objective: This study aimed to analyze factors associated with recent complications after colorectal cancer surgery, constructing a nomogram to aid gastrointestinal surgeons in preoperative decision-making for patients at risk of such complications.
Methods: In this retrospective study, clinical data were collected from patients undergoing radical colorectal cancer surgery at the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery of the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Guizhou Medical University and the Second People's Hospital of Chengdu from November 1, 2021, to January 26, 2024. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were conducted to assess risk factors for recent postoperative complications and develop a prediction model.
Silicon anodes have been considered one of the most promising candidates for Li-ion batteries due to their high theoretical specific capacity. However, the practical use of silicon anodes is impeded due to side reactions and volumetric change (from 300~400%) charge/discharge process. Binders played a crucial role in Li-ion batteries by effectively mitigating the stress resulting from the volumetric expansion in silicon-based anodes.

Due to its treatment resistance, high recurrence rate, and lack of reliable early detection techniques, a majority of patients have a poor prognosis. Therefore, identifying new tumor biomarkers and therapeutic targets is essential.

In this meta-analysis, we present an updated overview of the perioperative and oncological outcomes of laparoscopic DG (LDG) and robotic DG (RDG) to compare their safety and overall outcomes in patients undergoing DG. An extensive search was conducted using the MEDLINE, EMBASE, PubMed, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from the establishment of the database to June 2023 for randomized clinical trials comparing RDG and LDG.

Among them, different enantiomers of an amino acid may have different roles, and different types of amino acids can be interconverted. However, the content of D-amino acids is much lower than that of L-amino acids, which is difficult to be detected.

Current treatments for patients with CRC do not substantially improve the survival and quality of life of patients with advanced CRC, thus necessitating the development of new treatment strategies. The emergence of immunotherapy has revitalized the field, showing great potential in advanced CRC treatment.

However, they grapple with chemical instability toward moisture hypersensitivity, which decreases their ionic conductivity, leading to more processing requirements. Herein, a LiGePSbSI (LGPSSI) superionic conductor is designed with a Li conductivity of 6.

Although the frequency of bone metastases from breast cancer has increased, effective treatment is lacking, prompting the development of nanomedicine, which involves the use of nanotechnology for disease diagnosis and treatment. Nanocarrier drug delivery systems offer several advantages over traditional drug delivery methods, such as higher reliability and biological activity, improved penetration and retention, and precise targeting and delivery. Various nanoparticles that can selectively target tumor cells without causing harm to healthy cells or organs have been synthesized.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLiver metastases (LMs) are common in lung cancer. Despite substantial advances in diagnosis and treatment, the survival rate of patients with LM remains low as the immune-suppressive microenvironment of the liver allows tumor cells to evade the immune system. The impact of LMs on the outcomes of immune checkpoint inhibitors in patients with solid tumors has been the main focus of recent translational and clinical research.

Gastric cancer (GC) is an increasing global health problem and is one of the leading cancers worldwide. Traditional therapies, such as radiation and chemotherapy, have made limited progress in enhancing their efficacy for advanced GC. The development of immunotherapy for advanced GC has considerably improved with a deeper understanding of the tumor microenvironment.

The anti-cancer efficacy of anti-malignancy therapies is related to DNA damage. However, DNA damage-response mechanisms can repair DNA damage, failing anti-tumor therapy. The resistance to chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy remains a clinical challenge.

Chemotherapy using gemcitabine with cisplatin is the only available first-line therapy for patients with advanced cholangiocarcinoma, although it offers only palliation and yields a median survival of < 1 year. Recently there has been a resurgence of immunotherapy studies focusing on the ability of immunotherapy to inhibit cancer growth by impacting the tumor microenvironment.

Thus, the specific detection of a single enantiomer of a particular amino acid remains a great challenge due to their structural similarity. Here, we report a strategy to incorporate multiple reaction sites on a chiral 1,1'-bi-2,2'-naphthol-based fluorescent probe.

Angiogenesis and immune evasion are two key processes in GC progression, and they act synergistically to promote tumor progression. Tumor vascular normalization has been shown to improve the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy, which in turn may be improved through enhanced immune stimulation.

However, due to the considerable heterogeneity of solid tumor cells, inhibiting one target will only influence a portion of the tumor cells. One way to enhance the tumor-killing efficiency is to develop a multiagent therapeutic strategy targeting different aspects of tumor biology and the microenvironment to provide the maximal clinical benefit for patients with late-stage disease.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common malignant tumor in the world and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths, with the liver as the most common site of distant metastasis. The prognosis of CRC with liver metastasis is poor, and most patients cannot undergo surgery. In addition, conventional antitumor approaches such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy, and surgery result in unsatisfactory outcomes.
