Studying the regulatory mechanisms in different tissues of pepper is crucial for understanding organ formation, growth, and development. However, relevant studies are far from sufficient. In the current study, the stipe, calyx, pericarp, placenta, and seed of ripe pepper were sampled, and metabolites were determined by the untargeted metabolomics method.

Background: Osteoporosis (OP) is a common metabolic bone disease mainly involving bone remodeling and blood vessels. The current study aimed to explore the role of zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1) in OP.

Methods: First, gene expression microarrays for OP were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database and analyzed to screen for potential targets.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent research has focused on low dose X-ray irradiation (LDI), revealing different biological responses compared to higher doses, particularly in cell proliferation and fracture healing.
  • Preliminary studies indicate LDI may enhance osteoblast proliferation and differentiation, which could speed up healing in mice, but the underlying mechanisms are still unclear.
  • The current study investigates the effects of varying X-ray doses on the actin cytoskeleton in osteoblasts, finding that alterations in cell morphology and RhoA expression suggest the RhoA/Rho-associated kinase pathway is crucial for LDI-induced changes.

Background: Treatment with electroacupuncture (EA) at ST25 and CV12 has a significant analgesic effect on postinflammatory irritable bowel syndrome (PI-IBS) visceral pain. Enterochromaffin (EC) cells and serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT)) are important in the development of visceral hyperalgesia.

Objective: To investigate the analgesic effect and underlying mechanisms of EA at ST25 and CV12 on the treatment of trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced PI-IBS visceral hyperalgesia in rats.

Visceral hypersensitivity is one of the most common symptoms in patients with post-inflammatory-irritable bowel syndrome (PI-IBS). Enterochromaffin (EC) cells and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) are important in the development of visceral hyperalgesia, and EC cells are influenced by helper T-cell subtype 1 or 2 cytokine predominant environments. In the present study, the analgesic effect of cynaropicrin and its underlying mechanism on the treatment of trinitrobenzene sulfonic (TNBS)-induced PI-IBS visceral hyperalgesia rats was investigated.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is one of the major types of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Abnormal colonic enterochromaffin (EC) cell hyperplasia and serotonin availability have been described in UC. Guchangzhixie-pill (GCZX-pill), a Chinese herbal formula composed of six herbs, is modified based on a traditional formula (Jiechangyan-pill) for inflammatory and ulcerative gastrointestinal disorders.

Background: Electroacupuncture (EA) may have a role in the treatment of diarrhoea symptoms. Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) is an important neurotransmitter and paracrine signalling molecule in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which initiates peristaltic, secretory, vasodilatory, vagal and nociceptive reflexes. In addition, according to the results of our previous report, EA stimulation mediates GI peristalsis by increasing expression of 5-HT and tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH).

In the present study, a novel molecular biosensor system model was designed by using a couple of the fluorescent unnatural mutant streptavidin and the carbazole-labeled biotin. BODIPY-FL-aminophenylalanine (BFLAF), a fluorescent unnatural amino acid was position-specifically incorporated into Trp120 position of streptavidin by four-base codon method. On the other hand, carbazole-labeled biotin was synthesized as a quencher for the fluorescent Trp120BFLAF mutant streptavidin.

Background: Electroacupuncture (EA) is used clinically for the treatment of constipation. Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) plays an important role in colonic motility; however it is unknown whether alterations in colonic 5-HT are associated with EA. In this study, the effect and mechanism of EA at acupuncture points LI11 and ST37 were examined using a cold saline-induced rat model of constipation.

We designed a novel molecular biosensing system for the detection of biotin, an important vitamin by the combination of fluorescent unnatural streptavidin with a commercialized biotin-(AC5)2-hydrazide. A fluorescent unnatural amino acid, BODIPY-FL-aminophenylalanine (BFLAF), was position-specifically incorporated into Trp120 of streptavidin by four-base codon method. Fluorescence of the Trp120BFLAF mutant streptavidin was enhanced by the addition of biotin-(AC5)2-hydrazide with the concentration dependent, whereas fluorescence enhancement was not observed at all by the addition of natural biotin.

We address the model-to-image registration problem with line features in the following two ways. (a) We present a robust solution to simultaneously recover the camera pose and the three-dimensional-to-two-dimensional line correspondences. With weak pose priors, our approach progressively verifies the pose guesses with a Kalman filter by using a subset of recursively found match hypotheses.
