Macrophage polarization and inflammation may play an important role in the development of sepsis. T-cell immunoglobulin mucin 1 (TIM1) has been demonstrated to promote macrophage inflammatory responses. However, whether TIM1 regulates macrophage polarization and inflammation to affect sepsis development remains unclear.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of combined doxofylline and salbutamol in the treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Methods: A total of 68 acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients were randomly divided into control group (34 cases) and experimental group (34 cases), who received the doxofylline treatment and combined doxofylline and salbutamol treatment for 1 week, respectively. During the treatment, the remission time of typical respiratory manifestations was recorded, and the adverse reactions were observed.

Interleukin (IL)-18 has a clear antitumor effect; however, its mechanisms of action are not understood in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). Here, we investigated the potential mechanism of IL-18 in CRC. The results showed that IL-18 treatment alone had no effect on HCT116 cells apoptosis, whereas IL-18 in the presence of natural killer (NK) cells resulted in apoptosis and inhibition of cells proliferation in vitro.

To study the chemosensitivity and the mechanisms of recombinant adenovirus vector expressing ING4 and IL-24 (Ad-ING4-IL-24) on lung adenocarcinoma in vitro and in vivo, the expression of ING4 and IL-24 in A549 cells was detected by RT-PCR and Western blotting. The growth inhibition, apoptosis rate and apoptosis body were measured by MTT, flow cytometry and Hoechst staining respectively. For in vivo study, we first established the A549 tumor model by grafting A549 cells in athymic nude mice; and then injected Ad-ING4-IL-24 into the tumors.
