Article Synopsis
  • This study investigated how fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) paired with BRAF mutation testing impacts diagnosing papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) compared to FNAC alone.
  • A total of 122 patients with thyroid nodules were analyzed, where postoperative results served as the standard for accuracy in diagnosis.
  • The findings revealed that combining FNAC with BRAF testing significantly improved the sensitivity and accuracy of PTC diagnoses, showing a sensitivity increase from 93.69% to 97.30% (p<0.05).

Background: The preoperative risk stratification for patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) plays a crucial role in guiding individualized treatment. We aim to construct a predictive model that aids in distinguishing between patients with low-risk and high-risk PTC based on preoperative clinical and ultrasound characteristics.

Materials And Methods: Patients who underwent open surgery and were diagnosed with PTC a postoperative pathological report between January 2020 and December 2020 were retrospectively reviewed.
