We aimed to evaluate the incidence of residual shunt after patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure and analyze the anatomical features of PFO to determine the risk factors for significant residual shunt after PFO closure. Ninety-two patients who underwent PFO closure at our center between September 2021 and June 2022 were consecutively enrolled. Transthoracic saline contrast echocardiography was performed at 6 and 12 months postoperatively to evaluate the presence of a significant residual shunt.

- The study assessed the effectiveness and safety of a combination of sufentanil and promethazine for pain management in patients recovering from video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS).
- Sixty patients were randomized into two groups: one received the combination treatment (Group P) while the other only received sufentanil (Group C) to evaluate their pain levels and any adverse reactions.
- Results showed that Group P had lower pain scores and fewer nausea and vomiting incidents compared to Group C, suggesting this combination may enhance recovery post-surgery without increasing risks.
The microrheological phenomenon of kaolin-filled polypropylene (kaolin/PP) composites was investigated for the first time. The microviscosity of kaolin/PP composites was studied by changing the melt temperature and shear rate. Then, injection moulding experiments of rectangular microgrooves with different aspect ratios using kaolin/PP composites and mechanical property tests of the samples were carried out.
