Recently, vortex beams have been widely studied and applied because they carry orbital angular momentum (OAM). It is widely acknowledged in the scientific community that fractional OAM does not typically exhibit stable propagation; notably, the notion of achieving stable propagation with dual-fractional OAM within a single optical vortex has been deemed impracticable. Here, we address the scientific problem through the combined modulation of phase and polarization, resulting in the generation of a dual-fractional OAM vector vortex beam that can stably exist in free space.

At present, the theory of optical resonators for passive resonators is relatively mature, but the non-uniformity of gain media greatly affects the output of the laser transverse mode for astigmatic resonators in operation; especially for gas lasers, controllable high-order modes have not been studied. To realize the theory of an astigmatic passive resonator of a gas laser as a good approximation of an active resonator, this paper develops the theory of selecting the laser eigenmode through an astigmatic resonator, and verifies that the two-dimensional tilt of the cavity mirror can break the axial symmetry.

In this paper, the focusing characteristics of Bessel-Gaussian beams are studied by means of vector diffraction theory. The vector field distribution of the axisymmetric Bessel-Gaussian beam of a cylindrical vector is derived by calculating and adding Airy mixing modulation to the Bessel-Gaussian beam. It is found that with a series of regular focusing change characteristics, the focusing presents strong stability of the optical chain structure, and the number of optical chain links can be adjusted.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe investigate in detail the focusing properties of the composite vector beam (CVB) composed of two orthogonally linearly polarized beams with inhomogeneous polarization modulation. By optimizing the modulation factor, a multifocus with excellent quality is obtained, where the sizes of each focus are fairly smaller than that of the focusing spot of a radially polarized beam, the uniformity in the intensity of the focal spots is as high as 1, and the distributions of each focal spot have nearly circular symmetry. In order to decrease the power loss of the incident beam, the CVB formed by an annular beam is demonstrated as the substitute for the optimized CVB formed by a Gaussian beam.
