Methods: Sixty-two patients with multiple ASDs were retrospectively analyzed. Thirty of these patients underwent TTE-guided closure (3D printing and TTE group) after a simulation of occlusion in 3D printing models.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFIntroduction: Anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) is a rare but serious congenital coronary abnormality, Takeuchi repair is an alternative treatment option for this anomaly in certain situations, it is reported that baffle leak is the most common complication after Takeuchi repair, and some of this complication require surgical reoperation.
Case Presentation: In this case, a 43-year-old woman diagnosed with ALCAPA underwent Takeuchi procedure 6 months ago, 4 months after the procedure, the patient complained of chest pain on exertion and was confirmed to have baffle leak, and then we treated this complication successfully by percutaneous transcatheter closure.
Discussion: Baffle leak is the most common complication after Takeuchi procedure of ALCAPA, some of them require surgical reoperation.
Objective: To assess the effectiveness of a novel ultrasound wire for echo-guiding percutaneous atrial septal defect (ASD) closure in a sheep model.
Methods: After right lateral thoracotomy, ASDs were created in 20 sheep by transseptal needle puncture followed by balloon dilatation. Animals were evenly randomized into 2 groups to undergo ASD closure using echography as the only imaging tool with either COOK wire (control group) or new ultrasound wire (study group).
Objective: Percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty (PBMV) is the treatment of choice in patients with isolated mitral stenosis. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of PBMV under echocardiography guidance only of isolated mitral stenosis (MS).
Methods: From October 2016 to Dec 2017, 20 consecutive patients with severe MS underwent PBMV with echocardiography as the only imaging modality at a single center.
Background: Surgical or percutaneous interventional treatment of severe congenital aortic valve stenosis (CAS) in early infancy remains challenging. This single-center, retrospective study analyzed midterm outcomes of a hybrid balloon valvuloplasty procedure through the ascending aorta by way of median sternotomy, including cases with improved technique.
Methods: Included were 45 consecutive infants (aged <90 days) with CAS and selected for biventricular repair who underwent hybrid balloon valvuloplasty in a hybrid or ordinary operating room from October 2010 to March 2016.
Selecting an appropriate surgical approach for double-outlet right ventricle (DORV), a complex congenital cardiac malformation with many anatomic variations, is difficult. Therefore, we determined the feasibility of using an echocardiographic classification system, which describes the anatomic variations in more precise terms than the current system does, to determine whether it could help direct surgical plans. Our system includes 8 DORV subtypes, categorized according to 3 factors: the relative positions of the great arteries (normal or abnormal), the relationship between the great arteries and the ventricular septal defect (committed or noncommitted), and the presence or absence of right ventricular outflow tract obstruction (RVOTO).

Methods: From February 2013 to April 2014, 127 consecutive patients with an isolated type II ASD were recruited to undergo percutaneous closure under either TTE (n = 60, TTE group) or TEE (n = 67, TEE group) guidance. The TTE group received local anesthesia or sedation with propofol, and the TEE group received general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation.
