Aim: To evaluate the long-term efficacy of cholecystocolostomy surgery for progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis (PFIC).

Methods: From August 2003 to November 2014, 34 clinically diagnosed children, including 11 with familial intrahepatic cholestasis-1 (FIC1), 13 with bile salt export pump (BSEP) disease, five with low γ-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) disease (levels <100 U/L), and five with multidrug resistance class III (MDR3) disease with high GGT (>100 U/L), were identified in our center. Data were collected retrospectively from individuals who collectively had 36 surgical operations and two orthotopic liver transplantations (OLT).

Background: Congenital recto-urethral fistula (RUF) is the most common form of anorectal malformations (ARMs) found in boys. The aim of this study is to review our experience with one-stage laparoscopic procedure in the management of ARMs with recto-prostatic fistula and recto-bulbar fistula.

Methods: Seventeen boys with congenital RUF who underwent one-stage laparoscopy-assisted anorectoplasty (LAARP) between July 2012 and June 2015 were retrospectively in the study.

Obstructed defecation syndrome (ODS) is a functional disorder commonly encountered by colorectal surgeons and gastroenterologists, and greatly affects the quality of life of patients from both societal and psychological aspects. The underlying anatomical and pathophysiological changes of ODS are complex. However, intra-rectal intussusception and rectocele are frequently found in patients with ODS and both are thought to play an important role in the pathogenesis of ODS.
