Optical microcapsules encapsulating optical materials inside a symmetric spherical confinement are significant elements for the construction of optical units and the integration of optical arrays. However, the multiple stimuli-responsive characteristic of optical microcapsules still remains a challenge due to the insuperable physical barrier between the optical material core and the outside shell and the lack of effective mechanisms to trigger the dynamic switch of the encapsulated optical materials. Inspired by the dual-mode optical modulation of chameleon skins, a novel biomimetic binary optical microcapsule that combines the visible light reflection of chiral nematic liquid crystals and photoluminescence emission of rare-earth complexes is assembled by microfluidic emulsification and interfacial polymerization.

Environment-friendly disposal of coal fly ash (CFA) is essential for sustainable development and cleaner production of electricity in thermal power plants. Although CFA has been employed for soil amelioration, direct application of CFA to soil may pose risks such as heavy metal contamination. This study investigated recycling of CFA through a novel method, which employs the ultrasonic treatment of CFA before its application.

The pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) showed a significant impact on routine daily services in departments of otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery. The city of Wuhan, as the first reported epicenter in the world, resumed medical service since April 8, 2020. As the biggest ENT services provider in Wuhan, we share out institution's triage and screening system in the resuming period.

Recently, botanical biopesticides characterized by environment friendly, safe to non-target organism and not as susceptible to produce drug resistance, have exhibited great potential to be developed as antiviral agents. To screen the natural products with antiviral effect, three alkaloids possessed anti-tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) activity were isolated from Chelidonium majus and the modes of action were investigated.

Bone marrow-derived cells engraft to the uterine endometrium and contribute to endometriosis. This study sought to further confirm that estrogen can promote the migration of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and to investigate the function of estrogen on the secretion of chemokines during BMSC migration. BMSCs were treated with or without 17β-estradiol, cultured with or without endometrial stromal cells (ESCs), or pretreated with or without AMD 3100 (an antagonist of the SDF-1α receptor) before co-culture.

Substance P(SP) is a small molecule neuropeptide, which was secreted much more during heart failure, and has an obvious function of immune enhancement and inflammation induction. This study aimed to investigate the protective effects of MLB on pulmonary artery banding (PAB) induced right ventricular (RV) dysfunction.

Sixty-two AA patients (33 cases with high and 29 cases with low or no exposure to aluminum) and 30 healthy controls were selected for this study. Aluminum in human albumin solution was measured by inductivity coupled plasma mass spectrometry.

Survivin is the member of inhibitor of apoptosis protein (IAP) family, and it is also an essential subunit of chromosomal passenger complex (CPC), which regulates both apoptosis and cell cycle control in many models. However, the roles of survivin in mouse early embryos remain unclear.

Elderly patients infected with 2019-nCoV tend to have higher rates of severe illness and mortality. Immunosenescence is an important cause of severe novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) in the elderly.

Neuronavigated rTMS (10 Hz, 90% of resting motor threshold, 1,600 pulses over 20 min twice per day) was performed over the VC for five days. Clinical outcome was measured by Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD-24) at days 0, 1, 3, 5 and after terminating rTMS, with follow-up at four weeks.

Herein, a series of compounds bearing 1, 3, 5-triazine core were prepared, and their biological activities on BTK were determined. Then the molecular docking study and ADME property prediction were made and a highly potent selective BTK inhibitor B8 (IC = 21.

The obtained PSCTLCP is a nematic liquid crystal polymer; the liquid crystal phase exists in a temperature range of 170 to 275 °C, and its initial thermal decomposition temperature is as high as 279.6 °C, which matches the processing temperature of MH/LLDPE composites.

Before any control techniques can be employed, however, an accurate prediction of PM concentration is desired. Towards this end, this work aimed to provide an accurate estimation of PM concentration using a hybrid machine-learning technique.

This study aims to determine whether the Characterizing AD Risk Events (CARE) index model can effectively predict conversion in individuals at high risk for AD development either in an independent aMCI population or in an rLOD population.
Methods: The CARE index model was constructed based on the event-based probabilistic framework fusion of AD biomarkers to differentiate individuals progressing to AD from cognitively stable individuals in the aMCI population (27 stable subjects, 6 progressive subjects) and rLOD population (29 stable subjects, 10 progressive subjects) during the follow-up period.
Ethylene plays important roles in plant growth and development, but the regulation of ethylene signaling is largely unclear, especially in crops such as rice (). Here, by analysis of the ethylene-insensitive mutant (), we identified the GDSL lipase MHZ11, which modulates ethylene signaling in rice roots. MHZ11 localized to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and has acyl-hydrolyzing activity.

Purpose: Plasma cells and immunoglobulins (Igs) play a pivotal role in the induction and maintenance of chronic inflammation in nasal polyps. During secondary immune responses, plasma cell survival and Ig production are regulated by the local environment. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the presence of long-lived plasma cells (LLPCs) and specific survival niches for LLPCs in human nasal polyps.
