Liver cancer remains as the third leading cause of cancer-related death globally as of 2020. Despite the significant progress made in the field of liver cancer treatment, there is still a lack of effective therapies in patients with advanced cancer and the molecular mechanisms underlying liver cancer progression remain largely elusive. N6-methyladenosine (mA) modification, as the most prevalent and abundant internal RNA modification in eukaryotic RNAs, plays an essential role in regulating RNA metabolism including RNA splicing, stability, translation, degradation.

Article Synopsis
  • POD is a significant issue in China's healthcare system due to a growing elderly population, with 267 million seniors, and the incidence of postoperative delirium (POD) in this group has not been previously analyzed.
  • A systematic review of 52 studies including 18,410 elderly participants found a pooled POD incidence of 18.6% following non-cardiac surgeries, with variations based on gender and type of surgery.
  • The analysis showed higher POD incidence rates in males (19.6%) compared to females (18.3%), and recent studies (post-2018) reported a higher incidence (20.3%) compared to earlier studies (14.6%).

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to examine the effect of 11q loss of heterozygosity (LOH) on the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgical outcomes in neuroblastoma (NB) patients with MYCN amplification.
  • Retrospective analysis of 42 newly diagnosed NB patients revealed that those with 11qLOH had a lower clinical response to chemotherapy, with fewer patients showing significant improvements on MIBG scans compared to those without 11qLOH.
  • While there was no significant difference in surgical resection rates or survival outcomes between the two groups, the data suggested that 11qLOH may contribute to a poorer response to treatment in NB patients with MYCN amplification.
