Clinicopathological significance of human leukocyte antigen F-associated transcript 10 expression in colorectal cancer.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common malignancy of the gastrointestinal tract. The worldwide mortality rate of CRC is about one half of its morbidity. Ubiquitin is a key regulatory factor in the cell cycle and widely exists in eukaryotes.

Isolation and genetic analysis of a nidovirus from crucian carp (Carassius auratus).

A nidovirus was isolated from crucian carp (Carassius auratus). The complete genome of the crucian carp nidovirus (CCNV) is 25,971 nt long and has five open reading frames, encoding the polyprotein 1ab (pp1ab), spike glycoprotein (S), membrane protein (M), and nucleocapsid protein (N). CCNV has the highest similarity to Chinook salmon nidovirus (CSNV).

Effect of Matrix Metallopeptidase 13 on the Function of Mouse Bone Marrow-derived Dendritic Cells.

Background: Dendritic cells are professional antigen-presenting cells found in an immature state in epithelia and interstitial space, where they capture antigens such as pathogens or damaged tissue. Matrix metallopeptidase 13 (MMP-13), a member of the collagenase subfamily, is involved in many different cellular processes and is expressed in murine bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (DCs). The function of MMP-13 in DCs is not well understood.

Clinical observations on the treatment of prolapsing hemorrhoids with tissue selecting therapy.

Aim: To compare the effects and postoperative complications between tissue selecting therapy stapler (TST) and Milligan-Morgan hemorrhoidectomy (M-M).

Methods: Four hundred and eighty patients with severe prolapsing hemorrhoids, who were admitted to the Shenyang Coloproctology Hospital between 2009 and 2012, were randomly divided into observation (n=240) and control (n=240) groups. Hemorrhoidectomies were performed with TST in the observation group and with the M-M technique in the control group.

Botulinum toxin type-A injection to treat patients with intractable anismus unresponsive to simple biofeedback training.

Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of botulinum toxin type A injection to the puborectalis and external sphincter muscle in the treatment of patients with anismus unresponsive to simple biofeedback training.

Methods: This retrospective study included 31 patients suffering from anismus who were unresponsive to simple biofeedback training. Diagnosis was made by anorectal manometry, balloon expulsion test, surface electromyography of the pelvic floor muscle, and defecography.

[Factors associated with incontinence following anorectal procedures].

Objective: To investigate the factors associated with postoperative fecal incontinence after anorectal procedures.

Methods: A total of 1074 patients underwent anorectal procedures in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the Coloproctology Hospital of Shenyang. Factors associated with postoperative fecal incontinence were analyzed retrospectively.

Functional analysis of the Autographa californica nucleopolyhedrovirus IAP1 and IAP2.

The Autographa californica nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) contains three apoptosis suppressor genes: p35, iap1 and iap2. AcMNPV P35 functions as a pancaspase inhibitor, but the function of IAP1 and IAP2 has not been entirely resolved. In this paper, we analyze the function of IAP1 and IAP2 in detail.

[Synergism of plant volatiles to insect pheromones and related mechanisms].

Host plant volatiles and insect pheromones are the most important semiochemicals for insects, and their synergism can modulate insect behaviors. The attraction to sex- and aggregation pheromones of insects can be greatly enhanced by specific plant volatiles through the increased electroantennogram, pheromone incepting neuron action potential, and pulse-frequency. When the specific plant volatiles are bound with octopamine receptors, the threshold of sex pheromone incepting neuron to sex pheromones is decreased, while the sensibility of sex pheromone incepting neuron is increased, which may be the main mechanism for the synergism of plant volatiles to insect pheromones.
