Na-S and K-S batteries, with high-energy density, using naturally more abundant and affordable metals compared with rare resources like Li, Co, and Ni elements, have inspired intense research interest. However, the sulfur cathodes for Na/K storage are plagued by soluble polysulfide shuttling, larger volumetric deformation, and sluggish redox kinetics. Here, we report that a conductive organosulfur polymer microcage, fabricated facilely with the microbe and elemental sulfur as precursors, can effectively address these issues for stable high-capacity Na-S and K-S batteries.

Loss of ferroptosis contributes to the development of human cancer, and restoration of ferroptosis has been demonstrated as a potential therapeutic strategy in cancer treatment. However, the mechanisms of how ferroptosis escape contributes to ovarian cancer (OV) development are not well elucidated. Here, we show that ferroptosis negative regulation signatures correlated with the tumorigenesis of OV and were associated with poor prognosis, suggesting that restoration of ferroptosis represents a potential therapeutic strategy in OV.

The large size of K-ion makes the pursuit of stable high-capacity anodes for K-ion batteries (KIBs) a formidable challenge, particularly for high temperature KIBs as the electrode instability becomes more aggravated with temperature climbing. Herein, we demonstrate that a hollow ZnS@C nanocomposite (h-ZnS@C) with a precise shell modulation can resist electrode disintegration to enable stable high-capacity potassium storage at room and high temperature. Based on a model electrode, we identify an interesting structure-function correlation of the h-ZnS@C: with an increase in the shell thickness, the cyclability increases while the rate and capacity decrease, shedding light on the design of high-performance h-ZnS@C anodes via engineering the shell thickness.

Hollow nanoporous carbon architectures (HNCs) present significant utilitarian value for a wide variety of applications. Facile and efficient preparation of HNCs has long been pursued but still remains challenging. Herein, we for the first time demonstrate that single-component metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) crystals, rather than the widely reported hybrid ones which necessitate tedious operations for preparation, could enable the facile and versatile syntheses of functional HNCs.

Background: Although evidence-based medicine proposes personalized care that considers the best evidence, it still fails to address personal treatment in many real clinical scenarios where the complexity of the situation makes none of the available evidence applicable. "Medicine-based evidence" (MBE), in which big data and machine learning techniques are embraced to derive treatment responses from appropriately matched patients in real-world clinical practice, was proposed. However, many challenges remain in translating this conceptual framework into practice.

Resistance to neoadjuvant chemotherapy leads to poor prognosis of locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC), representing an unmet clinical need that demands further exploration of therapeutic strategies to improve clinical outcomes. Here, we identified a noncanonical role of RB1 for modulating chromatin activity that contributes to oxaliplatin resistance in colorectal cancer (CRC). We demonstrate that oxaliplatin induces RB1 phosphorylation, which is associated with the resistance to neoadjuvant oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy in LARC.

The electromagnetic (EM) beam manipulations such as spatial scanning have always been the focus in information science and technology. Generally, the transmitting and receiving (T/R) beams of the same aperture should be coincident due to the reciprocal theory, and hence, more flexible controls of the spatial information are limited accordingly. Here, we propose a new approach to achieve independent controls of beam scanning in spatial T/R channels based on one aperture made by a nonreciprocal programmable metasurface.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) causes great suffering to patients because of its heterogeneity, poor prognosis, and chemotherapy resistance. Ferroptosis is characterized by iron-dependent oxidative damage by accumulating intracellular lipid peroxides to lethal levels, and plays a vital role in the treatment of TNBC based on its intrinsic characteristics. To identify the relationship between chemotherapy resistance and ferroptosis in TNBC, we analyzed the single cell RNA-sequencing public dataset of GSE205551.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN), the principal pathogeny of end-stage renal disease (ESRD), is related to metabolic disorders, chronic inflammation, and oxidative stress. It was reported that high expression of interleukin-17A (IL-17A) was intimately related to the progression of DN, and targeting IL-17A exhibited regulating effects on inflammation and autoimmunity but had only limited impact on the oxidative stress damage in DN. Recent studies showed that interleukin-22 (IL-22) could inhibit mitochondrial damage and inflammatory response.
