Cryptorchidism is one of the most common congenital malformations in the paediatric genitourinary tract. Data analysis of cryptorchidism-related datasets in the GEO database and gene sequencing results from our institution, along with bioinformatic analysis of the merged mitochondrial gene datasets, revealed that COX5B is differentially expressed in the testes of children with cryptorchidism. Its encoded protein has attracted our attention as a key component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex IV.

Infantile hemangioma (IH) is the most frequent vascular tumor of infancy with unclear pathogenesis; disordered angiogenesis is considered to be involved in its formation. Apolipoprotein A-I binding protein (AIBP)-also known as NAXE (NAD [P]HX epimerase)-a regulator of cholesterol metabolism, plays a critical role in the pathological angiogenesis of mammals. In this study, we found that AIBP had much lower expression levels in both tissues from patients with IH and hemangioma endothelial cells (HemECs) than in adjacent normal tissues and human dermal vascular endothelial cells, respectively.

Changes in the functional connections between the cerebral cortex and muscles can evaluate motor function in stroke rehabilitation. To quantify changes in functional connections between the cerebral cortex and muscles, we combined corticomuscular coupling and graph theory to propose dynamic time warped (DTW) distances for electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) signals as well as two new symmetry metrics. EEG and EMG data from 18 stroke patients and 16 healthy individuals, as well as Brunnstrom scores from stroke patients, were recorded in this paper.

Purpose: To investigate the use of tubularized incised plate (TIP) urethroplasty for distal second- and third-degree hypospadias to free the dysplastic forked corpus spongiosum and Buck's fascia, which are used as a covering material for the new urethra, thereby reducing the incidence of urinary fistula and other complications in the coronal sulcus.

Materials And Methods: Clinical data of 113 patients with distal hypospadias treated with TIP urethroplasty from January 2017 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The study group comprised 58 patients (use of dysplastic corpus spongiosum and Buck's fascia to cover the new urethra), and the control group comprised 55 patients (use of dorsal Dartos fascia to cover the new urethra).

Activated B-cell-like (ABC)-diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (ABC-DLBCL) is a common subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with poor prognosis. The survival of ABC-DLBCL relies on constitutive activation of BCR signaling, but the underlying molecular mechanism is not fully addressed. By mining The Cancer Genome Atlas database, we found that the expression of ubiquitin-specific protease 7 (USP7) is significantly elevated in three cancer types including DLBCL.

The acquisition of good surface electromyography (sEMG) is an important prerequisite for correct and timely control of prosthetic limb movements. sEMG is nonlinear, nonstationary, and vulnerable against noise and a new sEMG denoising method using ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) and wavelet threshold is hence proposed to remove the random noise from the sEMG signal.
