The rate-limiting serine biogenesis enzyme PHGDH is overexpressed in cancers. Both serine withdrawal and genetic/pharmacological inhibition of PHGDH have demonstrated promising tumor-suppressing activities. However, the enzyme properties of PHGDH are not well understood and the discovery of PHGDH inhibitors is still in its infancy.

Amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) represents a prodromal stage of dementia and involves a high risk of progression into AD. Although the effects of the apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene on structural alterations in aMCI have been widely investigated, the effects of MTHFR C677T and interaction effects of MTHFR × APOE genotypes on gray matter atrophy in aMCI remain largely unknown.

Aim: To develop a nomogram for individualized prediction of in-hospital recurrence in MIS patients.
Methods: Based on retrospective collection, a single-center study was conducted at the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from January 2014 to December 2019.
Aim: To investigate the association of serum exosomes miR-574-5p with liver fibrosis, and explore the effect and mechanism of serum exosomes on HSC activation.
Materials And Methods: Using serum samples collected from healthy adults and patients with liver cirrhosis, we extracted human serum exosomes via ultra-high-speed centrifugation, and co-cultured them with hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) line LX2. LX-2-mediated intake of human serum exosomes was examined by confocal microscopy.
Pigs are the main host of Seneca Valley virus (SVV), previously known as Senecavirus A (SVA). Pigs affected by SVV have vesicles in the nose, hooves, and limp and may cause death in some severe cases. Occasionally, SVV has also been detected in mice, houseflies, environmental equipment, and corridors in pig farms.

Crataegi Fructus is a traditional Chinese herb widely used in formulas for dyspepsia, with Dashanzha Pill composed of raw Crataegi Fructus (DR) being a representative drug. Processing products of Crataegi Fructus, however, have a stronger pro-digestive effect, and we hypothesized that Dashanzha Pill composed of charred Crataegi Fructus (DC) is more effective.

Herein, a novel alendronate-coated nanoceria (CeAL) nanozyme is explored for cigarette filter modification for ROS/RNS scavenging. The CeAL nanozyme with an adjustable oxidation state and high thermal stability exhibits an excellent superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity, hydroxyl radical elimination capacity, catalase-mimicking activity, and nitric oxide radical scavenging ability.

Dinotefuran is a widely used neonicotinoid pesticides in agriculture and it has certain ecological toxicity to aquatic organisms. Studies on the potential toxicological effects of dinotefuran on fish are limited. In the present study, 96 h acute toxicity test indicated that enantiomers of R-(-)-dinotefuran had a greater toxic effect than Rac-dinotefuran on zebrafish, and S-(+)-dinotefuran was the least.

Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is usually accompanied by different types of cognitive deficits, but whether it is associated with dysfunctional connectivity of the SN remains unknown. To address this, thirty-six patients with right TLE (rTLE) and thirty-six healthy controls (HCs) were recruited for the present study.

Morphological and physical-chemical analysis methods are often limited by the destructive nature of samples, a high signal response strength and specific materials. Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) has been used as an alternative method because it can generate molecular images from many surfaces and produce rich chemical information.

Previous studies evaluating the relationships of glaucoma with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and dementia showed inconsistent results. We performed a meta-analysis of cohort studies to evaluate the association between glaucoma with incidence of AD, all-cause dementia, and non-AD dementia. Cohort studies which evaluated the association between glaucoma with incidence of AD, all-cause dementia, and non-AD dementia in adult population with multivariate analyses were identified by systematic search of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane's Library databases.

As an antioxidant, hindered phenol scavenges free radicals. Due to the oxidative degradation of black phosphorus (BP) in the presence of water and oxygen, free radical quenching of hindered phenol antioxidants can solve this issue and improve the environmental stability and flame retardant efficiency of BP. Herein, hydroxyl-modified BP (BP-OH) with active groups on the surface was obtained by hydroxylation, and then the hindered phenol antioxidant was grafted onto the surface of BP-OH through an isophorone diisocyanate bridging covalent reaction to obtain hindered phenol-modified BP (BP-HPL).

However, the anti-tumor effect of LSD1 inhibitors against diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and the underlying mechanism are still unclear. Here, we report that KDM1A is overexpressed in human DLBCL tissues and negatively related to overall survival rate of DLBCL patients.

Presenilin-1, presenilin-2 (PSEN2), and amyloid precursor protein are currently known as the three main causative genes for autosomal dominant EOAD, with the PSEN2 mutation being the rarest. In this study, we reported a 56-year-old Chinese Han proband who presented with prominent progressive amnesia, aphasia, executive function impairment, and depression 5 years ago.

Phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase (PHGDH) which catalyzes the first, rate-limiting step in de novo serine biosynthesis has become a promising target for the cancer treatment. Here we identified H-G6 as a potential PHGDH inhibitor from the screening of an in-house small molecule library based on the enzymatic assay.

The DPO system-based multiplex RT-PCR method simplified the primer design and did not require optimization of the annealing temperature. Specificity analysis revealed that the method could specifically detect TGEV, PEDV, PRV-A, PDCoV, and SADS-CoV without any cross-amplification of other circulating swine viruses.

Yet, using mutation-accumulation experiments and de novo assembled complete genomes based on Nanopore long-read sequencing, we find that the widely used quality-control strain Shewanella putrefaciens ATCC-8071, also a facultative pathogen, is a hypermutator, with a base-pair substitution mutation rate of 2.42 × 10-8 per nucleotide site per cell division, ∼146-fold greater than that of the wild-type strain CGMCC-1.

However, the side effects of MAOIs drive the requirement of a new framework of enzyme inhibitors development. In this context, a new type of MAOI has been built on the framework of gold nanoclusters (AuNCs), realizing the transformation from no function of small molecules to MAOI function of ligand-modified AuNCs.
