Objective: To analyze the phenotype and genetic basis for a pedigree affected with hereditary coagulation factor XI deficiency.

Methods: Activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), prothrombin time (PT), fibrinogen (FIB), FXI activity (FXI:C) and the antigen of FXI (FXI:Ag) were determined for the proband and members from his pedigree. Sanger sequencing was used to analyze all exons, exon-intronic boundaries, as well as the 5'- and 3'- untranslated regions of the F11 gene.

Background: Since December 2019, a new outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Wuhan (Hubei, China) and rapidly spread throughout China, however, confirmed cases are still increasing worldwide.

Objectives: To investigate the epidemiological history and initial clinical characteristics of 10 patients with family aggregation of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in Western Chongqing, China.

Study Design: Ten patients positive for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid detection by real time Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR), were collected from The People's Hospital of Dazu District, Chongqing.

Solitary neurofibroma of the heart is extremely unusual. Few reports of neurofibroma in the left ventricle have been published. In this case report, we present the results of transthoracic echocardiography, myocardial contrast echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, and histopathologic examination of a patient with a neurofibroma of the heart.

Complex oxide heterointerfaces and van der Waals heterostructures present two versatile but intrinsically different platforms for exploring emergent quantum phenomena and designing new functionalities. The rich opportunity offered by the synergy between these two classes of materials, however, is yet to be charted. Here, we report an unconventional nonlinear optical filtering effect resulting from the interfacial polar alignment between monolayer MoS and a neighboring ferroelectric oxide thin film.

Cofilin is associated with cell differentiation; however, to the best of our knowledge, no data have indicated an association between the cofilin 1 pathway and leukemia cell differentiation. The present study investigated the involvement of the cofilin 1 signaling pathway in diallyl disulfide (DADS)‑induced differentiation and the inhibitory effects on the proliferation, migration, and invasion of human leukemia HL‑60 cells. First, it was identified that 8 µM DADS suppressed cell proliferation, migration and invasion, and induced differentiation based on the reduced nitroblue tetrazolium ability and increased CD11b and CD33 expression.

Respiration monitoring equipment has wide applications in daily health monitoring and modern medical diagnosis. Despite significant progress being made in humidity sensors for respiration monitoring, the fabrication of the humidity sensors with low-cost, simple manufacturing process and easy integration remains a challenge. This work reports a facile and inexpensive laser printing fabrication of PEDOT:PSS micron line as a humidity sensor for respiration monitoring.

Aim: Few studies have comprehensively evaluated the factors associated with health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in the elderly. The purpose of the study is to identify the factors associated with HRQOL using a comprehensive geriatric assessment of community-dwelling elderly people in Beijing, China.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 896 community-dwelling elderly people in Beijing was conducted through face-to-face interviews.

More than 30% of genes in higher eukaryotes are regulated by promoter-proximal pausing of RNA polymerase II (Pol II). Phosphorylation of Pol II CTD by positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb) is a necessary precursor event that enables productive transcription elongation. The exact mechanism on how the sequestered P-TEFb is released from the 7SK snRNP complex and recruited to Pol II CTD remains unknown.

Background: Urinary bladder cancer (BLCA) and breast cancer (BRCA) are two cancers which are the most common cause of death. Recent studies have found that BLCA and BRCA shared commonness on many areas, such as biological mechanism, molecular subtypes and clinical stage. Therefore, a mature knowledge of BRCA can help highlight the treatment and prognosis of BLCA.

The Scanning tunneling microscope (STM) is a micro instrument designed for surface morphology with nanometer precision. The restoration of the STM image defects usually needs human judgements and manual positioning because of the diversity of the morphology and the randomness of the defects. This paper provides a new fully-automatic method that combines deep convolutional neural classification network and unique restoration algorithms corresponding to different defects.

Retinoid-related orphan receptor alpha (RORα) is involved in tumor development. However, the mechanisms underlying RORα inhibiting epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and invasion are poorly understood in gastric cancer (GC). This study revealed that the decreased expression of RORα is associated with GC development, progression, and prognosis.

Background And Importance: Patients with severe thoracic or lumbar deformities can achieve satisfactory correction through appropriate osteotomies. However, patients with multiple craniocervical malformations commonly undergo conservative or finite surgical therapy mainly because of the involvement of the vertebral artery. Anterior oral meningocele is an extremely rare pathology that has not been previously reported.

Detection of cancer biomarkers is crucial for the diagnosis and monitoring of malignant tumors. However, the accuracy and sensitivity still require sufficient improvement for practically clinical application. In this work, a reliable and sensitive dual-mode immunosensing method is described for carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) detection using a biofunctional ZnO@SiO nanocomposite as a resonance Raman scattering (RRS)-infrared (IR) absorption nanoprobe.
