Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), also known as VEGF-A, has been linked to various diseases, such as wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD) and cancer. Even though there are VEGF inhibitors that are currently commercially available in clinical applications, severe adverse effects have been associated with these treatments. There is still a need to develop novel VEGF-based therapeutics against these VEGF-related diseases.

The aim of this study was to improve the freshness of gerbera cut flowers through the optimal solution (OS) and to analyze its preservation mechanism. We used chitosan (COS), calcium chloride (CaCl), and citric acid (CA) as the main ingredients of the vase solution and determined the OS ratio of 104 mg/L of COS, 92 mg/L of CA, and 93 mg/L of CaCl using the Box-Behnken design-response surface method (BBD-RSM).

Despite their widespread distribution, their genetic diversity and population structure in Xizang have not been thoroughly investigated. In this study, sheep ticks were identified from four counties by microscopy, followed by genetic analysis of Dermacentor everestianus populations in Xizang based on mitochondrial 16S rRNA and cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (COI) gene sequences.

Background: In this study, we explored changes to female medical staff's health status under the influence of care guilt in the process of balancing work and family care responsibilities. The mediating role of time pressure within this nexus was examined, and an ideal concept derived from the Confucian cultural context, "Zhong-yong," was investigated as a moderator of the impact of care guilt on health status.
Method: A questionnaire survey of 407 full-time female medical staff with family care needs, recruited using convenience sampling from eight hospitals in China, was conducted.
The objective of this study was to substitute partially fat with pea protein isolate (PP)/rutin (Ru) complexes to produce a healthy and stable low-fat whipped cream. Ru enhanced the foam properties of PP. The Ru binding equivalent was the best at a mass ratio of PP/Ru of 64:4, the PP/Ru complexes particle size was the smallest.

This study employed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to investigate the role of immune-related autophagy in the mechanism of aseptic loosening (AL) of biomaterial bone-implant. Through single-cell analysis of AL tissues, we mapped the cellular landscape, revealing various cell types and their characteristics within the context of AL. Our study specifically targeted immune cell subpopulations, including macrophages and neutrophils.

In this work, we report the angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy of superconducting LaSrNiO films prepared by molecular beam epitaxy and in situ atomic-hydrogen reduction. The measured Fermi topology closely matches theoretical calculations, showing a large Ni [Formula: see text]-derived Fermi sheet that evolves from hole-like to electron-like along and a three-dimensional (3D) electron pocket centered at the Brillouin zone corner.

In this work, a new strategy of local synergistic hydrogenochemotherapy is proposed to attenuate side effects and enhance therapeutic efficacy based on the anti-cancer selectivity and normal cells-protecting effect of H, and construct a novel anti-cancer formulation of rectal suppository (5-FU/CSN@FAG) by fatty acid glycerides (FAG) encapsulating 5-fluorouracil (5-FU, a first-line drug for colorectal cancer treatment) and cerium silicide nanoparticles (CSN) with a sustained hydrolytic H release behavior which is synchronous with 5-FU release. The 3-week treatment with the suppository once a day can not only completely eradicate colon tumors without tumor recurrence after suppository administration withdrawal, but also efficiently protect the intestinal tract from chemotherapeutic damage.

The reduction of carboxylic esters to aldehydes and alcohols is a fundamental functional group transformation in chemistry. However, the inertness of carbonyl group and the instability of ketyl radical anion intermediate impede the reduction of carboxylic esters via photochemical strategy. Herein, we described the reduction of aliphatic carboxylic esters with synergistic dual photocatalysis via phenolate-catalyzed single electron transfer process and thiol-catalyzed hydrogen atom transfer process.

Ménétrier's disease is a rare gastritis. Although there were some pathological features under gastroscopy, the depth of mucosal infiltration observed was not enough, and it was difficult to distinguish from other gastric mucosal lesions. A biopsy guided by gastroscopy is not deep enough and may lead to misdiagnosis due to incomplete sampling of the entire gastric mucosa.

Methods: Fifty-five T2DM patients admitted to our hospital in 2022 who received standard nursing interventions were selected as the control group, and 61 T2DM patients admitted in 2023 who received stress and adaptation theory-based nursing intervention in addition to standard nursing interventions were enrolled as the observation group. Changes of blood glucose levels, mood state score, self-management competence and life quality were compared between the two groups before and after intervention.
This paper develops a finite element analysis model to investigate the seepage characteristics of cement sheaths, considering the flow properties of their porous medium. The model's applicability under various conditions was evaluated through grid sensitivity tests and model validation, indicating that it effectively captures the seepage behavior of cement sheaths with a reasonable degree of reliability. Key parameters, including cement sheath length, permeability, gap structure, pressure differential, and fluid properties, were analyzed using finite element methods to determine their impact on seepage flow.

In this study, we evaluated the benefits, harms, and cost-effectiveness of lowering the screening starting age from 45 to 35 years and extending the stopping age from 64 to 79 years in Chinese women at an average risk of progressing BC. Biennial screening showed a lower incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) compared to annual screening.

Methodology: In total, 50 in vitro OSCC samples from Nanjing Stomatological Hospital (July 2022 to January 2024) were subjected to micro-CT imaging with a slice thickness of 50 μm following 3% Lugol iodine staining for 12 h, followed by pathological examination and staining.
Gray mold is an important disease of crops and is widespread, harmful, difficult to control, and prone to developing fungicide resistance. Screening new fungicides is an important step in controlling this disease. Hydroxychloroquine is an anti-inflammatory and anti-malarial agent, which has shown marked inhibitory activity against many fungi in medicine.

The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO) to methane (CH) presents a promising solution for mitigating CO emissions while producing valuable chemical feedstocks. Although single-atom catalysts have shown potential in selectively converting CO to CH, their limited active sites often hinder the realization of high current densities, posing a selectivity-activity dilemma. In this study, we developed a single-atom cobalt (Co) doped copper catalyst (CoCu) that achieved a CH Faradaic efficiency exceeding 60 % with a partial current density of -482.

However, Cuδ+ sites are thermodynamically unstable, fluctuating their oxidation states under reaction conditions, which complicates their functionality. Incorporating interfacial metal oxides has emerged as an effective strategy for stabilizing these oxidation states.

Thin film transistors (TFTs) with InSnZnO (ITZO) and AlO as the semiconductor and dielectric layers, respectively, were investigated, aiming to elevate the device performance. Chemically synthesized CuInS/ZnS core/shell colloidal quantum dots (QDs) were used to passivate the semiconductor/dielectric interface. Compared with the pristine device, the device with the integrated QDs demonstrates remarkably improved electrical performance, including a higher electron mobility and a lower leakage current.

NbO has become a focus of research for its suitability as an anode material in sodium ion capacitors (SICs), due to its open ionic channels. The integration of NbO with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) is known to boost its electrical conductivity. However, the sluggish interfacial charge transfer kinetics and interface collapse of NbO/rGO pose challenges to its rate capability and durability.
