In a series of studies on blood-brain barrier transportable peptides, a soybean dipeptide, Tyr-Pro, penetrated the mouse brain parenchyma after oral intake and improved short and long memory impairment in acute Alzheimer's model mice. Here, we aimed to clarify the anti-dementia effects of this peptide administered to SAMP8 mice prior to dementia onset. At the end of the 25-week protocol in 16-week-old SAMP8 mice, Tyr-Pro (10 mg/kg/day) significantly improved the reduced spatial learning ability compared with that in the control and amino acid (Tyr + Pro) groups as indicated by the results of Morris water maze tests conducted for five consecutive days.

This study aimed to investigate the differences in the mechanisms of microscopic hepatotoxicity, developmental toxicity, and neurotoxicity in aquatic organisms co-exposed to styrene-butadiene rubber tire microplastics (SBR TMPs) and fluoroquinolone antibiotics (FQs). We found that hepatotoxicity in zebrafish induced by SBR TMPs and FQs was significantly higher than developmental toxicity and neurotoxicity. Furthermore, the main effects of the FQs primarily manifested as synergistic toxicity, whereas the low- and high-order interactions of the FQs mainly exhibited synergistic and antagonistic effects, respectively.

Here we report the modular synthesis of 1,5-disubstituted tetrazoles using two highly chemoselective reactions, ligations of -fluorosulfurylamidines with amines and diazotransfer reactions between FSON and -monosubstituted amidines, respectively. Enabled by sulfur(VI) fluoride exchange (SuFEx) click chemistry, we have successfully synthesized a series of -fluorosulfurylamidines and identified them as stable and scalable organic synthons. We then discover that -fluorosulfurylamidines react selectively toward a series of aliphatic amines, resulting in the formation of -monosubstituted amidines that can react further with FSON to deliver 1,5-disubstituted tetrazoles.

Cyanobacterial toxins are the most common algal toxins, which are highly toxic and can persist in the aquatic environment without easy degradation, posing risks to the ecosystem and human health that cannot be ignored. Although microbiological methods for the removal of cyanobacterial toxins from aqueous environments are highly efficient, their degradation efficiency is susceptible to many abiotic environmental factors. In this study, a transposon mutagenesis library of E110 was used to show that several capsular polysaccharide (CPS) synthesis-related genes were linked to the phage HH109 infection. This study introduces a novel approach to transport modelling by integrating experimentally derived causal priors into neural networks.
