The modal frequencies of a structure are affected by continuous changes in ambient factors, such as temperature, wind speed etc. This study incorporates nonlinear principal component analysis (NLPCA) with support vector regression (SVR) to build a mathematical model to reflect the correlation between ambient factors and modal frequencies. NLPCA is first used to eliminate the high correlation among different ambient factors and extract the nonlinear principal components.

Real-time and accurate monitoring of dynamic deflection is of great significance for health monitoring and condition assessment of bridge structures. This paper proposes an improved step-type liquid level sensing system (LLSS) for dynamic deflection monitoring. Layout of straight-line-type pipeline is replaced by step-type pipeline in this improved deflection monitoring system, which can remove the interference of the inclination angle on the measurement accuracy and is applicable for dynamic deflection monitoring.

Cables are the main load-bearing structural components of long-span bridges, such as suspension bridges and cable-stayed bridges. When relative slip occurs among the wires in a cable, the local bending stiffness of the cable will significantly decrease, and the cable enters a local interlayer slip damage state. The decrease in the local bending stiffness caused by the local interlayer slip damage to the cable is symmetric or approximately symmetric for multiple elements at both the fixed end and the external load position.

A water-soluble glycopeptide (GLPCW-II) was isolated from the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma lucidum by DEAE-Sepharose Fast-Flow and Sephacryl S-300 High Resolution Chromatography. The glycopeptide had a molecular weight of 1.2x10(4)Da (determined by HPLC), and consisted of approximately 90% carbohydrate and approximately 8% protein as determined using the phenol-sulfuric acid method and the BCA protein assay reagent kit, respectively.
