Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the importance of achieving low disease activity state (LDAS) in treating pediatric systemic lupus erythematosus (pSLE) and examines factors that prevent reaching LDAS.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 272 children with SLE, discovering that 230 achieved LDAS while 42 did not, with certain baseline conditions like endothelial cell proliferation identified as key risk factors.
  • The findings suggest that non-compliance and specific clinical indicators are crucial in managing pSLE, and achieving LDAS can help minimize organ damage over time.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate timing of fixation to retard bone absorption using finite element analysis(FEA).

Methods: Volunteer CT images were used to construct four models of mandibles with varying degrees of alveolar bone resorption. By simulating occlusal force loading, biomechanical analysis was made on the periodontal membrane, tooth root and surrounding bone (both cancellous and cortical) of mandibular dentition.
