Objective: Understanding the impact of early childhood physical growth on visual development is crucial, as this period marks a critical phase for foundational physical and ocular maturation. The aim of the current study was to investigate the associations between the anthropometric indicators of height, weight, and body mass index (BMI), as well as visual acuity, refraction, and ocular biometrics, in Chinese preschool children.
Methods: This cross-sectional study consisted of 1,477 Chinese 3- to 6-year-old preschool children from nine kindergartens in Tongzhou District, Beijing.
Pulmonary large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) has a poor prognosis, and there is no consensus on optimal treatment strategies for pulmonary LCNEC. Certain patients with pulmonary LCNEC may benefit from targeted and traditional programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) monoclonal antibody therapies, however, for most patients, only a few drugs are effective after chemotherapy. The present report describes the case of a 68-year-old man with advanced pulmonary LCNEC treated with cadonilimab and anlotinib after becoming resistant to PD-1 monoclonal antibody therapy and multiple chemotherapies.

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites have been recognized as potential candidates in direct X-ray detectors and have triggered tremendous interest in the past years. The blade coating method meets the requirements of large area and low cost for perovskite X-ray detectors, while the low compactness resulting from solvent evaporation limits the charge collection efficiency (CCE) and device sensitivity. Most of the reports are focused on the melioration of perovskite films to increase device sensitivity; there are still problems of low CCE.

Purpose: To summarize the burden and clinical characteristics of neovascular glaucoma (NVG) in a major tertiary care center in China.
Methods: The clinical data of NVG patients in Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (ZOC) between 2012 and 2021 were collected retrospectively, including their age, sex, affected eye, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), clinical stage and aetiology.
Background: The South West Thames Centre for Genomics implemented a wider diagnostic Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) gene panel for eligible cancer patients undergoing diagnostic testing whilst restricting data analysis and reporting for BRCA1/BRCA2/PALB2/CHEK2 1100delC only as per contemporaneous guidelines. This study investigated the cost-utility of reanalyzing existing diagnostic grade extended panel data for truncating germline pathogenic variants (GPVs) in known moderate risk cancer susceptibility genes (CSGs) and performing follow-up genetic testing for first-degree relatives if patients have an identified CSG allele.
Methods: Reanalysis of existing NGS data was undertaken in 889 samples from cancer patients contemporaneously eligible through the NHS England National Genomic Test Directory (NGTD) codes R207 (ovarian) or R208 (breast) who had tested negative for BRCA1/BRCA2/PALB2 and CHEK2 1100delC founder variant.
Studies have shown that motor-cognitive dual task can greatly improve motor/cognitive function. However, the therapeutic effect of motor-cognitive dual task is still limited. How to improve dual-task performance is the key to solving this problem.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in the Tongzhou District of Beijing, China. Refractive error was measured under both noncycloplegic and cycloplegic conditions with autorefraction.
Drought is one of the vital meteorological disasters that influence crop growth. Timely and accurately estimating the drought dynamics of crops is valuable for decision-maker to formulate scientific management measures of agricultural drought risk. In this study, the evapotranspiration and drought dynamics of winter wheat from 1981 to 2020 in the Huang-Huai-Hai (HHH) region of China were evaluated based on long-term multi-source observation data.

Accurate determination of the rAAV genome titer is crucial for ensuring the safe and effective administration of clinical doses. The evolution of the rAAV genome titer assay from quantitative PCR (qPCR) to digital PCR (dPCR) has enhanced accuracy and precision, yet practical challenges persist.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFCurrently, adeno-associated virus (AAV) is one of the primary gene delivery vectors in gene therapy, facilitating long-term gene expression. Despite being imperative, it is incredibly challenging to precisely assess AAV particle distribution according to the sedimentation coefficient and identify impurities related to capsid structures. This study performed the systematic methodological validation of quantifying the AAV empty and full capsid ratio.

The clinical effectiveness of recombinant proteins is directly related to their biological activity, which is an important indicator in drug development and quality control. However, certain recombinant proteins have unclear or complex signal pathways, making detecting their activity in vitro difficult.

In this work, we use radio-frequency (RF) reflectometry to electrically detect the photoionisation induced by a single Er ion in Si. The high bandwidth and sensitivity of the RF reflectometry provide sub-100-ns time resolution for the photoionisation detection.

Dexamethasone (DEX) acts on the glucocorticoid (GC) receptor (GR) and is a first-line chemotherapy drug for ALL. However, long-term or high-dose applications of the drug can not only cause adverse reactions, such as osteoporosis and high blood pressure, but can also cause downregulation of GR and lead to drug resistance.

This paper reports a field-programmable-gate-array based hardware system that is designed to realize control and signal readout for fast scanning magnetic imaging with a nitrogen-vacancy center. A 10-channel 1 Msps @ 20 bit analog signal generator, a 12-channel 50 ps resolution pulse generator, a 300 Msps @ 16 bit lock-in amplifier with proportional integral derivative control function, and a 4-channel 200 Msps counter are integrated on the platform.

This study describes the analysis of data from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children, quantifying the prevalence of CM, parental DVA, co-occurrence rates, and the impact of different combinations of childhood exposures on life outcomes (health, economic, and likelihood of perpetrating intimate partner violence as a young person). Childhood exposure prevalences were estimated at 41.

Although complete chloroplast (Cp) genomes of four Rhizophoraceae mangrove plants have been reported, the Cp genomes of the remaining four species remain unclear, impeding a comprehensive understanding of the evolutionary history of this family.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has superior efficacy in the treatment of pneumonia, and it has the unique advantage of antibacterial resistance against multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria, but the medication rule and pharmacological mechanism of its antibacterial activity are not clear.
Aim Of The Study: This study aims to reveal Chinese medication patterns in treating bacterial pneumonia to select bioactive constituents in core herbs, predict their pharmacological mechanisms and further explore their antibacterial ability against clinically isolated MDR Klebsiella pneumoniae (KP) and their antibacterial mechanisms.
A high-sensitivity plasmonic photonic crystal fiber (PCF) sensor is designed and a metal thin film is embedded for achieving surface plasmon resonance (SPR), which can detect the magnetic field and temperature simultaneously. Within the plasmonic PCF sensor, the SPR sensing is accomplished by coating both the upper sensing channel (Ch1) and the lower sensing channel (Ch2) with gold film. In addition, the temperature-sensitive medium polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is chosen to fill in Ch1, allowing the sensor to respond to the temperature.
