Relation of aspirin resistance to coronary flow reserve in patients undergoing elective percutaneous coronary intervention.

Previous studies have shown that more complete platelet inhibition improves the coronary flow reserve (CFR), a measure of microvascular integrity, in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We hypothesized that patients with aspirin resistance would have impaired CFR after elective PCI. We used VerifyNow Aspirin to determine the response to aspirin in 117 consecutive patients who underwent elective single-lesion PCI.

Low-dose aspirin increases aspirin resistance in patients with coronary artery disease.

Purpose: We sought to investigate the association of aspirin dose and aspirin resistance in stable coronary artery disease patients measured by a point-of-care assay.

Methods: We studied 468 consecutive stable coronary artery disease patients in a referral cardiac center who were taking aspirin 80 to 325 mg daily for > or =4 weeks. The VerifyNow Aspirin (Ultegra RPFA-ASA, Accumetrics Inc, San Diego, Calif) was used to determine aspirin responsiveness.

[Transposed ovarian function conservation in cervical cancer patients with radiotherapy].

Objective: To evaluate the transposed ovarian function and complications in cervical cancer patients with postoperative pelvic radiotherapy.

Methods: Sixty-two women with stage I-IIa cervical cancer were treated with radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy and transposition of both ovaries to paracolic gutters from 1997 to 2003 at the Cancer Hospital of Fudan University. Menopausal symptoms, levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and E2 were evaluated to assess ovarian function.

Frequency-locking phenomena of propagating wave fronts in reaction-diffusion systems.

We observe N:(N-1)(N>/=2) frequency-locking phenomena of propagating wave fronts when increasing the light intensity in a spatially extended system. The experiments were carried out using the light-sensitive form of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction with Ru(bpy)(2+)3 as a catalyst. By constructing a mapping function, the characteristic devil's staircase can be reproduced when plotting wave period versus light intensity, in agreement with the experimental data.

Genomic annotation and expression analysis of the zebrafish Rho small GTPase family during development and bacterial infection.

The zebrafish genomic sequence database was analyzed for the presence of genes encoding members of the Rho small GTPases. The analysis shows the presence of 32 zebrafish Rho genes representing one or more homologs of the human RHOA, RND3, RHOF, RHOG, RHOH, RHOJ, RHOU, RHOV, CDC42, RAC1, RAC2, RAC3, RND1, RHOBTB1, RHOBTB2, RHOBTB3, and RHOT1 genes. By expression analysis using reverse transcriptase-PCR we show that at least 20 of the predicted zebrafish small GTPase genes are expressed in the adult stage.

The prognosis of women with stage IB1-IIB node-positive cervical carcinoma after radical surgery.

Background: Pelvic lymph nodes metastasis is an important prognostic factor for patients with cervical carcinoma. However, the relationships between the number of positive nodes, site of metastases nodes, adjuvant therapy and the prognosis is controversial. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of positive lymph nodes on the prognosis of Chinese women with stage IB1-IIB cervical carcinoma.

[Study of HLA polymorphism in the 6965 Han bone marrow registry donors].

Objective: To analyze human leukocyte antigen (HLA) polymorphism and search for new alleles in Chinese Han population bone marrow registry donors.

Methods: DNA-based HLA genotyping methods were used including PCR-SSP, BST and molecular cloning.

Results: A total of 6965 unrelated donors, 4707 from South China origin and 2258 from north, were typed for HLA-A, B, and DRB1 loci.

Secondary cytoreductive surgery for patients with relapsed epithelial ovarian carcinoma: who benefits?

Background: This study was performed to address patient selection criteria and the role of secondary cytoreductive surgery (SCR) in patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC) who had relapsed tumors after a progression-free interval > or = 3 months.

Methods: One hundred seventeen patients with relapsed EOC after a clinical complete remission duration > or = 3 months who underwent SCR were entered on this prospective trial.
