Background: In this study, we aimed to explore the association between baseline and early changes in the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the 30-day mortality rate in patients having anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (MDA5)-positive dermatomyositis with interstitial lung disease (DM-ILD).
Methods: Overall, 263 patients with anti-MDA5 DM-ILD from four centers in China were analyzed. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the impact of baseline NLR on the 30-day mortality rate in patients with anti-MDA5-positive DM-ILD.
In ordered magnets, the elementary excitations are spin waves (magnons), which obey Bose-Einstein statistics. Similarly to Cooper pairs in superconductors, magnons can be paired into bound states under attractive interactions. The Zeeman coupling to a magnetic field is able to tune the particle density through a quantum critical point, beyond which a 'hidden order' is predicted to exist.

However, the photochemical behavior of compost-derived DOM (DOM) remains poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the photochemical transformation and photoactivity of DOM derived from typical composts produced from cow manure (CDOM) and pig manure (PDOM).

However, the development of such mechanophores remains underexplored. Here we report a novel flex-activated mechanophore based on the 1,4-Diels-Alder (DA) adduct of 9,10-diphenylanthracene (DPA) with acetylenedicarboxylate (ADC).

Introduction: It was reported that most arachnoid cyst (AC)-associated chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) was spontaneous. However, AC with CSDH caused by trauma was extremely scarcely reported. In this paper, the authors reported a successful surgical treatment of a case of AC associated with CSDH after trauma.

Gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS) and multivariate analysis were used to analyze the volatile organic components (VOCs) in yak meat from various sources. A total of 71 volatile compounds were identified, 53 of which were annotated based on the GC-IMS database.

However, it remains challenging to improve the efficiency of mechanochemical activation, especially for mechanophores embedded within polymer networks, which has profound implications for translating mechanochemical responses into materials-centered applications. The physical and chemical conditions under spatial confinement differ significantly from those in the surrounding bulk environment, offering opportunities to facilitate mechanochemical activation.

Background: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a highly aggressive form of brain cancer. This study investigated the clinical predictive value of heat shock protein β1 (HSPB1) in patients with GBM.
Methods: A correlation was established between HSPB1 expression and GBM progression using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) dataset, Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas dataset, Gene Expression Omnibus dataset, and Human Protein Atlas database.
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic and progressive respiratory disorder characterized by poor prognosis, often presenting with acute exacerbation. The primary cause of death associated with IPF is acute exacerbation of IPF (AE-IPF). However, the pathophysiology of acute exacerbation has not been clearly elucidated yet.

We aimed to examine the role of ANTXR1 in glioma tumorigenesis and explore its downstream regulatory mechanism. ANTXR1 expression in clinical specimens and its relationship with some pathological characteristics were detected using immunohistochemical staining.

Enhancing green total factor productivity (GTFP) is essential for achieving the objective of green development, and the effect of environmental protection tax (EPT), a crucial instrument for addressing environmental challenges, on green TFP is crucial. Based on provincial panel data from 2004 to 2020 in China, this study uses inter-provincial differences in environmental protection tax rates as a quasi-natural experiment and utilizes a synthetic control method to assess the impact of the "changing sewage charge to tax" on regional GTFP. The empirical results suggest that EPT can help enhance GTFP, a finding that still holds after regional placebo tests, time placebo tests, and difference-in-differences robustness tests.

An interplay of geometrical frustration and strong quantum fluctuations in a spin-1/2 triangular-lattice antiferromagnet (TAF) can lead to exotic quantum states. Here, we report the neutron-scattering, magnetization, specific heat, and magnetocaloric studies of the recently discovered spin-1/2 TAF NaBaCo(PO), which can be described by a spin-1/2 easy axis XXZ model. The zero-field neutron diffraction experiment reveals an incommensurate antiferromagnetic ground state with a significantly reduced ordered moment of about 0.
