To meet the requirements of the biopharmaceutical industry, improving the yield of recombination therapeutic protein (RTP) from Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells is necessary. The human cytomegalovirus (CMV) promoter is widely used for RTP expression in CHO cells. To further improve RTP production, we truncated the human CMV intron and further evaluated the effect of four synthetic introns, including ctEF-1α first, EF-1α first, chimeric, and β-globin introns combined with the CMV promoter on recombinant expression levels in transient and stably recombinant CHO cells.

As an emerging class of optoelectronic materials, multi-resonance (MR) 1,4-BN-heteroarenes have been extensively employed as narrowband electroluminescence materials, whereas their absorption feature has largely been neglected. Here we construct the first MR-molecule-based phototransistor for filterless narrowband photodetectors (NBPDs) by anchoring narrowband absorption MR molecules on the high-mobility semiconductor indium-zinc-oxide (IZO) film. The resulting device exhibits high-performance photodetection with a small full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 33 nm, which represents a new record for NBPDs based on intrinsic narrowband absorbing materials.

Thioredoxin reductase 1 (TrxR1) is an important therapeutic target for nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment due to its overexpression in NSCLC cells. In this work, to address the deficiency that sesquiterpene lactone containing α-methylene-γ-lactone moiety was rapidly metabolized by endogenous nucleophiles, series of novel thioether derivatives were designed and synthesized based on a reactive oxygen species (ROS)-triggered prodrug strategy. Among them, prodrug exhibited potent cytotoxicity against NSCLC cells and better release rates in response to ROS.

Platinum(II)-based antitumor drugs are widely used in clinics but limited by severe side effects and resistance. Multi-target Platinum(IV) complexes are emerging as ideal alternatives. Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) works as a rate-limiting step in heme degradation and is overexpressed in malignant tumors.

The use of purified hydrocolloids extracted from waste-activated sludge has significant potential for preventing seed deterioration caused by aging. In this study, we compared the advantages and disadvantages of 3 types of purified hydrocolloid seed coatings from different waste sludges and one commercial seed coating at different spraying times (2, 4, 6, and 8). Compared with coated maize seeds, uncoated maize seeds underwent significant functional changes during the aging process according to the infrared spectroscopy results.

Soil salinization poses a significant ecological and environmental challenge both in China and across the globe. Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) enhance plants' resilience against biotic and abiotic stresses, thereby playing a vital role in soil improvement and vegetation restoration efforts. PGPR assist plants in thriving under salt stress by modifying plant physiology, enhancing nutrient absorption, and synthesizing plant hormones.

To understand the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcome in HIV-infected pregnant women and influencing factors in China and provide reference for the improvement of the health status of HIV-infected pregnant women and their newborns. Based on a mother-child cohort of HIV-infected pregnant women and children (PMTCT-MC-2005) established in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Yunnan Province and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, this study enrolled pregnant women with or without HIV infection as study subjects from January 2017 to June 2023, a total of 1 646 pregnant women (558 HIV-infected and 1 088 HIV-uninfected) were included, and 34 cases with missing data were excluded. The test was used to analyze the difference in the incidence adverse pregnancy outcome between two groups, and used logistic regression model to identify the influencing factors of adverse pregnancy outcome in HIV-infected pregnant women.

As an efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly semiconductor material, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) can generate hydrogen peroxide (HO) by photocatalysis, attracting wide attention in recent years. Herein, the effects of hydroxyl, methoxyl, and vinyl groups of imide-linked two-dimensional (2D) COFs on the photocatalytic production of HO were studied theoretically and experimentally. The introduction of vinyl groups greatly promotes the photogenerated charge separation and migration of COFs, providing more oxygen adsorption sites, stronger proton affinity, and lower intermediate binding energy, which effectively facilitates the rapid conversion of oxygen to HO.
