Background And Purpose: Early identification of malignant cerebral edema (MCE) in patients with acute ischemic stroke is crucial for timely interventions. We aimed to identify regions critically associated with MCE using the Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score (ASPECTS) to evaluate the association between location-specific-net water uptake (NWU) and MCE.
Materials And Methods: This multicentre, retrospective cohort study included patients with acute ischemic stroke following large anterior circulation occlusion.
Background: Cervical cancer is associated with persistent infection of high-risk human papillomaviruses (HPVs). Prophylactic HPV vaccines have been recommended and have significant efficacy in preventing cervical cancer. Multivalent HPV vaccines have a better preventative effect on HPV-related diseases.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLignin represents a significant source of aromatic hydrocarbons in the natural world. The production of high-value chemicals from lignin has the great potential to effectively address the issue of fossil energy scarcity. In this study, complex sulfides of nickel‑cobalt bimetallic catalysts were prepared via hydrothermal synthesis and subsequently employed in the catalytic hydrogenolysis of CO bonds present in lignin.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe efficient hydrogenolysis of CO ether bonds in lignin is the key for producing bio-oil and high-value chemicals. In this work, we synthesized a series of Ni-MOF-derived porous carbon spheres anchored Ni catalysts (Ni/C-x-T) with different metal/ligand molar ratios and calcination temperatures through solvothermal and carbothermal reduction method, and evaluated their catalytic transfer hydrogenolysis (CTH) performance for lignin model compounds using isopropanol as H-donor. The Ni/C-2-400 catalyst exhibited the excellent CTH performance, affording almost 100 % conversion of 2-phenoxy-1-phenylethanol even at a low reaction temperature of 120 °C.

Here we use Xenium spatial transcriptomics to identify a distinct p21 highly expressing senescent population induced on wounding, with a pro-inflammatory profile.

Context: Turner syndrome (TS) is characterized by a partial or complete absence of the second X chromosome in female. Here, patients with Xp deletion involving SHOX haploinsufficiency caused by unbalanced X-autosome translocations were discussed and considered as TS variants.
Objective: This work aimed to expand the current knowledge of TS and unbalanced X-autosome translocations and to suggest the definition, clinical characteristics, diagnosis workflow and growth hormone (GH) treatment strategy of TS and its variants.
A key challenge in aging research is extending lifespan in tandem with slowing down functional decline so that life with good health (healthspan) can be extended. Here, we show that monthly clearance, starting from 20 months, of a small number of cells that highly express p21 (p21) improves cardiac and metabolic function and extends both median and maximum lifespans in mice. Importantly, by assessing the health and physical function of these mice monthly until death, we show that clearance of p21 cells improves physical function at all remaining stages of life, suggesting healthspan extension.

Aims: Cardiac cycle morphological changes can accelerate plaque growth proximal to myocardial bridging (MB) in the left anterior descending artery (LAD). To assess coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA)-based vascular radiomics for predicting proximal plaque development in LAD MB.
Methods And Results: Patients with repeated CCTA scans showing LAD MB without proximal plaque in index CCTA were included from Jinling Hospital as a development set.
Immune checkpoint inhibition targeting the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway has become a powerful clinical strategy for treating cancer, but its efficacy is complicated by various resistance mechanisms. One of the reasons for the resistance is the internalization and recycling of PD-L1 itself upon antibody binding. The inhibition of lysosome-mediated degradation of PD-L1 is critical for preserving the amount of PD-L1 recycling back to the cell membrane.

This study describes the immunization of a llama with the prefusion-stabilized HIV-1 envelope (Env) trimer, BG505 DS-SOSIP, and the identification and improvement of potent neutralizing nanobodies recognizing the CD4-binding site (CD4bs) of vulnerability. Two of the vaccine-elicited CD4bs-targeting nanobodies, G36 and R27, when engineered into a triple tandem format with llama IgG2a-hinge region and human IgG1-constant region (G36×3-IgG2a and R27×3-IgG2a), neutralized 96% of a multiclade 208-strain panel at geometric mean ICs of 0.

Recently, the synthesis of individual single-layer MoBT (T = O, F, OH) MBene sheets has been realized, which attracted considerable attention in optoelectronics. However, there is still a lack of understanding and regulation of the photophysical processes of MoBT MBene.

Chemoselective hydrogenation of carbonyl in unsaturated aldehydes is a significant process in the chemical industry, in which the development of aqueous-phase reaction systems as a substitution to organic ones is challenging. Herein, we report Ir atomic cluster catalysts anchored onto WO nanorods a reduction treatment at various temperatures (denoted as Ir/WO-T, = 200, 300, 400, and 500 °C), which accelerates the chemoselective hydrogenation of carbonyl groups in aqueous solutions. The optimal catalyst Ir/WO-300 exhibits exceptional activity (TOF value: 1313.

In humans, genetic defects in N-linked glycosylation pathways result in metabolic diseases collectively called Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation. In this modification reaction, a mannose rich oligosaccharide is transferred from a lipid-linked donor substrate to a specific asparagine side-chain within the -N-X-T/S- sequence (where X ≠ Proline) of the nascent protein.

However, the sensitivity and accuracy of the SWI and T1/T2 mapping sequences were not systematically compared. The study aimed to evaluate image quality and diagnostic performance of SWI in patients with IMH, compared with T1/T2 mapping.

In the whole composition range, the formation enthalpies of all structures are positive, indicating that SnO-ZrO is an immiscible system and the ZrSnO alloy has a tendency of phase separation at low temperature. The phase diagram of ZrSnO ternary alloy shows that the critical temperature is 979 K, which means that when the growth temperature of ZrSnO crystal is higher than the critical temperature, it is possible to realize the full-component solid solution.
