Superbugs in groundwater are posing severe health risks through waterborne pathways. An emerging approach for green disinfection lies at photocatalysis, which levers the locally generated superoxide radical (·O) for neutralization. However, the spin-forbidden feature of O hinders the photocatalytic generation of active ·O, and thus greatly limited the disinfection efficiency, especially for real groundwater with a low dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration.

At present, suture bridge is a feasible choice in the treatment of massive rotator cuff tears (MRCTs). However, high tension on the repair site and medial tension during suture tightening and after medial knotting are unavoidable problems in MRCT repair with a suture bridge. Arthroscopic V-shaped double-pulley suture-bridge repair is a pragmatic surgical technique for the repair of MRCTs.

The efficient hydrogenolysis of CO ether bonds in lignin is the key for producing bio-oil and high-value chemicals. In this work, we synthesized a series of Ni-MOF-derived porous carbon spheres anchored Ni catalysts (Ni/C-x-T) with different metal/ligand molar ratios and calcination temperatures through solvothermal and carbothermal reduction method, and evaluated their catalytic transfer hydrogenolysis (CTH) performance for lignin model compounds using isopropanol as H-donor. The Ni/C-2-400 catalyst exhibited the excellent CTH performance, affording almost 100 % conversion of 2-phenoxy-1-phenylethanol even at a low reaction temperature of 120 °C.

Perturb-seq enabled the profiling of transcriptional effects of genetic perturbations in single cells but lacks the ability to examine the impact on tissue environments. We present Perturb-DBiT for simultaneous co-sequencing of spatial transcriptome and guide RNAs (gRNAs) on the same tissue section for in vivo CRISPR screen with genome-scale gRNA libraries, offering a comprehensive understanding of how genetic modifications affect cellular behavior and tissue architecture. This platform supports a variety of delivery vectors, gRNA library sizes, and tissue preparations, along with two distinct gRNA capture methods, making it adaptable to a wide range of experimental setups.

A key challenge in aging research is extending lifespan in tandem with slowing down functional decline so that life with good health (healthspan) can be extended. Here, we show that monthly clearance, starting from 20 months, of a small number of cells that highly express p21 (p21) improves cardiac and metabolic function and extends both median and maximum lifespans in mice. Importantly, by assessing the health and physical function of these mice monthly until death, we show that clearance of p21 cells improves physical function at all remaining stages of life, suggesting healthspan extension.
