However, the associations between maternal preconception blood pressure (BP) and APOs remain controversial and inconclusive.
Methods: This population-based cohort study used data of 567 127 mother-neonate-father triads from the National Free Preconception Checkup Project in Guangdong Province, China.
In many disordered systems, the diffusion of classical particles is described by a displacement distribution (, ) that displays exponential tails instead of Gaussian statistics expected for Brownian motion. However, the experimental demonstration of control of this behavior by increasing the disorder strength has remained challenging. In this work, we explore the Gaussian-to-exponential transition by using diffusion of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) in attractive nanoparticle-polymer mixtures and controlling the volume fraction of the nanoparticles.

Background: The cardiac-protective role of GSNOR (S-nitrosoglutathione reductase) in the cytoplasm, as a denitrosylase enzyme of S-nitrosylation, has been reported in cardiac remodeling, but whether GSNOR is localized in other organelles and exerts novel effects remains unknown. We aimed to elucidate the effects of mitochondrial GSNOR, a novel subcellular localization of GSNOR, on cardiac remodeling and heart failure (HF).
Methods: GSNOR subcellular localization was observed by cellular fractionation assay, immunofluorescent staining, and colloidal gold particle staining.
Background: The effects of the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor inhibitor tirofiban in patients with acute ischemic stroke but who have no evidence of complete occlusion of large or medium-sized vessels have not been extensively studied.
Methods: In a multicenter trial in China, we enrolled patients with ischemic stroke without occlusion of large or medium-sized vessels and with a National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score of 5 or more and at least one moderately to severely weak limb. Eligible patients had any of four clinical presentations: ineligible for thrombolysis or thrombectomy and within 24 hours after the patient was last known to be well; progression of stroke symptoms 24 to 96 hours after onset; early neurologic deterioration after thrombolysis; or thrombolysis with no improvement at 4 to 24 hours.
Accurate prediction of infinite dilution activity coefficient (γ) is essential for the calculation of phase equilibria, solubility, and related properties in molecular thermodynamics. Here, we propose a new model to accurately predict the value of γ. It is applicable to calculate γ for compounds in aqueous solution at different temperatures.

Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death globally. Accurately modeling cardiac homeostasis, dysfunction, and drug response lies at the heart of cardiac research. Adult human primary cardiomyocytes (hPCMs) are a promising cellular model, but unstable isolation efficiency and quality, rapid cell death in culture, and unknown response to cryopreservation prevent them from becoming a reliable and flexible in vitro cardiac model.

Is preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), to distinguish non-carrier from euploid/balanced embryos and prioritize transfer, an effective and applicable strategy for couples with t(X-A)?
Design: Karyotype analysis, whole-exome sequencing and X inactivation analysis were performed for a girl with congenital cardiac anomalies, language impairment and mild neurodevelopmental delay. PGT based on next-generation sequencing after microdissecting junction region (MicroSeq) to distinguish non-carrier and carrier embryos was used in three couples with a female t(X-A) carrier (cases 1-3).
Results: The girl carried a maternal balanced translocation 46,X,t(X;1)(q28;p31.
Objective: To investigate the cortical gyrification changes as well as their relationships with white matter (WM) microstructural abnormalities in the akinetic-rigid (AR) and tremor-dominant (TD) subtypes of Parkinson disease (PD).
Methods: Sixty-four patients with the AR subtype, 26 patients with the TD subtype, and 56 healthy controls (HCs) were included in this study. High-resolution T1-weighted and diffusion-weighted images were acquired for each participant.
Deoxycholic acid (DCA, 3, 12-dihydroxy-5-cholan-24-oic acid) is the major circulating secondary bile acid, which is synthesized by gut flora in the lower gut and selectively oxidized by CYP3A into tertiary metabolites, including 1,3,12-trihydroxy-5-cholan-24-oic acid (DCA-1-ol) and 3,5,12-trihydroxy-5-cholan-24-oic acid (DCA-5-ol) in humans. Since DCA has the similar exogenous nature and disposition mechanisms as xenobiotics, this work aimed to investigate whether the tertiary oxidations of DCA are predictive of in vivo CYP3A activities in beagle dogs. In vitro metabolism of midazolam (MDZ) and DCA in recombinant canine CYP1A1, 1A2, 2B11, 2C21, 2C41, 2D15, 3A12, and 3A26 enzymes clarified that CYP3A12 was primarily responsible for either the oxidation elimination of MDZ or the regioselective oxidation metabolism of DCA into DCA-1-ol and DCA-5-ol in dog liver microsomes.

MXenes represent a family of surface-functionalized two-dimensional (2D) carbides and nitrides with potential applications in the field of flexible electronics, which rely on their elasticity and flexibility. However, the knowledge on such aspects is rather limited. Here, taking the four most typical MXenes, namely, TiCT, TiCT, NbCT and NbCT (T = O, OH and F) as examples, we evaluate their intrinsic in-plane stiffness and out-of-plane rigidity at the nanoscale with respect to their functional groups, chemical components and thickness by first-principles calculations.
