The shortwave infrared (SWIR) region is an ideal spectral window for next-generation bioimaging to harness improved penetration and reduced phototoxicity. SWIR spectral activity may also be accessed via supramolecular dye aggregation. Unfortunately, development of dye aggregation remains challenging.

Individually addressed entangling gates in a two-dimensional ion crystal.

Two-dimensional (2D) ion crystals may represent a promising path to scale up qubit numbers for ion trap quantum information processing. However, to realize universal quantum computing in this system, individually addressed high-fidelity two-qubit entangling gates still remain challenging due to the inevitable micromotion of ions in a 2D crystal as well as the technical difficulty in 2D addressing. Here we demonstrate two-qubit entangling gates between any ion pairs in a 2D crystal of four ions.

Rationale And Objectives: Endovascular recanalization has been attempted in patients with symptomatic chronic intracranial large artery occlusion (CILAO), however, the heterogeneity of recanalization outcomes present challenges for the clinical application.

Objective: To determine the radiological features on high-resolution MR imaging (HR-MRI) for predicting successful recanalization of symptomatic CILAO.

Methods: Seventy-three patients with symptomatic CILAO who underwent endovascular recanalization at our center were retrospectively analyzed.

Realization of a crosstalk-avoided quantum network node using dual-type qubits of the same ion species.

Generating ion-photon entanglement is a crucial step for scalable trapped-ion quantum networks. To avoid the crosstalk on memory qubits carrying quantum information, it is common to use a different ion species for ion-photon entanglement generation such that the scattered photons are far off-resonant for the memory qubits. However, such a dual-species scheme can be subject to inefficient sympathetic cooling due to the mass mismatch of the ions.

Methods: This is a nested, case-control study drawn from the China Stroke Primary Prevention Trial among rural Chinese adults with hypertension, including 557 first stroke cases and 557 age-matched, sex-matched, treatment group-matched, and residence-matched controls. Serum L-carnitine was measured by liquid chromatography with tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry.
