Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) in infants worldwide. Nirsevimab, an extended half-life monoclonal antibody against RSV, is approved in China for the prevention of RSV lower respiratory tract disease in infants; however, global nirsevimab trials did not enroll Chinese infants. To inform the investigation of nirsevimab for the prevention of RSV LRTI in Chinese infants, this Phase I, randomized, placebo-controlled trial evaluated the pharmacokinetics (PK) and safety of nirsevimab in healthy Chinese adults.

Methods: This study trained 452 PTMC patients across two hospitals from January 2012 to December 2020. The sets were randomly divided into the training (n = 339), internal test (n = 86), external test (n = 27) sets.
SiO-based material is a promising candidate for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) owing to its high theoretical capacity. The inherent disadvantages of poor electronic conductivity and large volume variation can be solved by constructing the outermost carbon layer and reserving internal voids. However, the practical application of SiO/C composites remains a great challenge due to the unsatisfactory energy density.

Objective: To prepare porous core-shell composite particles (PCPs) in order to improve the flowability and compactibility of powder materials for direct compaction (DC), as well as the dissolution of tablets.
Significance: The results obtained are meaningful to boosting the development and further research of PCPs on DC. Methods: In this study, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC E3) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP K30) were selected as shell materials, the Xiao Er Xi Shi formulation powder (XEXS) was used as the core materials, ammonium bicarbonate (NHHCO), and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO) were employed as pore-forming agent.
Metal nanoclusters (NCs) with atomically precise structures have sparked interest in catalysis. Unfortunately, their high aggregation tendency and the spatial resistance of surface ligands pose significant challenges. Herein, Au NCs are encapsulated into isoreticular metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), namely UiO-66-X (X = H, NH, OH, and NO), followed by the removal of surface ligands on Au NCs.

Context: Patients with gastric cancer experience health-related quality of life (HRQOL) decline during adjuvant chemotherapy following gastrectomy.
Objectives: This pilot study aimed to evaluate the preliminary effect and feasibility of electro-acupuncture (EA) for HRQOL and symptom burden in these patients.
Methods: In this open-label, multicenter, parallel controlled trial, gastric cancer patients who planned to receive adjuvant chemotherapy were randomly assigned to receive high-dose EA (seven times each chemotherapy cycle for three cycles), low-dose EA (three times each chemotherapy cycle), or usual care only.
Methylophiopogonanone A (MOA), an abundant homoisoflavonoid bearing a methylenedioxyphenyl moiety, is one of the major constituents in the Chinese herb This work aims to assess the inhibitory potentials of MOA against cytochrome P450 enzymes and to decipher the molecular mechanisms for P450 inhibition by MOA. The results showed that MOA concentration-dependently inhibited CYP1A, 2C8, 2C9, 2C19, and 3A in human liver microsomes (HLMs) in a reversible way, with IC values varying from 1.06 to 3.

Methods: The BASILAR was a nationwide prospective registry of consecutive patients with a symptomatic and radiologically confirmed acute basilar artery occlusion within 24 hours of symptom onset. We estimated the effect of standard medical therapy alone (SMT group) versus SMT plus EVT (EVT group) for patients with documented pc-ASPECTS on noncontrast CT, both as a categorical (0-4 versus 5-7 versus 8-10) and as a continuous variable.
Optimizing kinetic barriers of ammonia synthesis to reduce the energy intensity has recently attracted significant research interest. The motivation for the research is to discover means by which activation barriers of N dissociation and NH ( = 1-2, surface intermediates) destabilization can be reduced simultaneously, that is, breaking the "scaling relationship". However, by far only a single success has been reported in 2016 based on the discovery of a strong-weak N-bonding pair: transition metals (nitrides)-LiH.

Although agonists of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors γ confer neuroprotection in models of cerebral ischemia, it is not known whether this effect extends to white matter protection. This study tested the hypothesis that the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors γ agonist rosiglitazone enhances oligodendrogenesis and improves long-term white matter integrity after ischemia/reperfusion.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground And Purpose: Our recent research revealed that adoptively transferred regulatory T cells (Tregs) reduced acute ischemic brain injury by inhibiting neutrophil-derived matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and protecting against blood-brain barrier damage. The mechanisms underlying Treg interactions with neutrophils remain elusive. This study evaluates the contribution of program death 1-ligand 1 (PD-L1) to Treg-mediated neutrophil inhibition and neuroprotection after cerebral ischemia.

Our recent study demonstrated that intravenous delivery of regulatory T cells (Tregs) markedly protected against transient cerebral ischemia by suppressing neutrophil-derived matrix metallopeptidase 9 production in the periphery. However, the effect of Tregs on systemic inflammatory responses and immune status has not been fully characterized.
