Background: The causal relationship between PM (particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter ≤2.5 μm) and common mental disorders, along with its neuropathological mechanisms, remains unclear.

Methods: We used genome-wide association study datasets from the UK Biobank and Psychiatric Genomics Consortium to systematically investigate the causal relationship between PM and nine common psychiatric disorders using two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) methods.

Multidimensional 3D-rendered objects are an important component of vision research and video- gaming applications, but it has remained challenging to parametrically control and efficiently generate those objects. Here, we describe a toolbox for controlling and efficiently generating 3D rendered objects composed of ten separate visual feature dimensions that can be fine-adjusted using python scripts. The toolbox defines objects as multi-dimensional feature vectors with primary dimensions (object body related features), secondary dimensions (head related features) and accessory dimensions (including arms, ears, or beaks).

To investigate the combined application of cytology, cell block histology and immunohistochemistry to improve the diagnostic accuracy of solid pancreatic lesions in endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) samples. The pathological data of EUS-FNA in 311 cases of solid pancreatic lesions submitted to the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University, Shijiazhuang, China from May 2019 to September 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. The cases included pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC, 172 cases), solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN, 12 cases), neuroendocrine tumors (PNET, 14 cases) and chronic pancreatitis (113 cases).

Cadmium is a heavy metal contaminant known to cause various health issues. However, limited research exists on the serum metabolomic effects of cadmium exposure in children. In this study, we recruited 42 children to analyze their serum metabolomic profiles, along with measuring urinary cadmium and creatinine concentrations, to evaluate the impact of environmental cadmium exposure on serum metabolism.

Article Synopsis
  • Coronary air embolism is a rare but serious risk during coronary procedures, which can lead to critical complications like ventricular fibrillation.
  • A case study describes a patient who experienced a massive air embolism in the right coronary artery during an intervention but was successfully resuscitated through electric defibrillation, leading to a complete recovery.
  • The results imply that using a defibrillator to induce strong heart contractions can help break up large air emboli and improve blood flow in the coronary arteries.
