The study established methods using Evaporative Light Scattering Detector (ELSD) and Charged Aerosol Detector (CAD) for analyzing four types of sugars in a traditional Chinese medicine called Zhusheyong Yiqi Fumai (YQFM).
HPLC-ELSD and HPLC-CAD methods were conducted with specific column conditions and mobile phases, successfully identifying fructose, glucose, sucrose, and maltose in YQFM.
Both detection methods demonstrated good agreements in their measurements, with reliable recoveries and reproducibility; the study also highlighted the importance of a particular CAD parameter for accuracy in sugar determination.
