Background: Tomatoes are renowned for their popularity and nutritional value across the globe, yet their production and quality face significant challenges from various biotic stresses in their growing environments. Kiwellin (KWL) has been implicated in plant disease resistance. However, our comprehension of this gene family in plants is still remarkably insufficient.

Emerging evidence suggests that circular RNAs (circRNAs), a class of non-coding RNAs, play a critical role in the progression of several cancers, including osteosarcoma (OS). In this study, we focused on a specific circRNA, hsa_circ_0002005, derived from the mesoderm-induced early response 1 family member 2 (MIER2) gene. We determined the expression levels of hsa_circ_0002005 in OS samples through the use of real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR).

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the Tn antigen, an abnormal sugar molecule often found in breast cancer, and its relationship to cancer spread (metastasis) and patient outcomes.
  • - Researchers discovered that Tn antigen is commonly present in breast cancer tissues, especially in metastatic areas, and its expression is linked to more advanced disease and lower survival rates.
  • - Targeting the Tn antigen in breast cancer cells showed promise in reducing their ability to invade and spread, suggesting it could be an effective therapeutic target for treating aggressive breast cancer.

Article Synopsis
  • Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is a rare tumor that mimics malignant behavior, traditionally treated with surgical resection and chemotherapy, though results are often poor.
  • Newer treatments combining cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) are being studied for their safety and effectiveness in treating PMP.
  • An observational study of 186 PMP patients treated with CRS + HIPEC revealed a median age of 56, a 30-day postoperative fatality rate of 2.7%, and a significant incidence of complications, particularly anemia, although most patients did not achieve satisfactory CRS outcomes.

The ground-level O concentration has shown a deteriorating trend in the Fenwei Plain of China, which poses a greater challenge for formulating control strategies of O precursor (VOCs). To accurately control VOCs sources and effectively reduce O concentration from a seasonal perspective, online monitoring of 114 VOCs was conducted at Yuncheng Middle School Station from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021. The VOCs concentration showed a seasonal variation with the highest in winter and the lowest in summer.
