Hydrogen peroxide (HO) is a ubiquitous signal regulating many biological processes, including innate immunity, in all eukaryotes. However, it remains largely unknown that how transcription factors directly sense HO in eukaryotes. Here, we report that rice basic/helix-loop-helix transcription factor bHLH25 directly senses HO to confer resistance to multiple diseases caused by fungi or bacteria.

Exploring aging-related molecular targets in elderly patients with cancer is thus highly sought after. Here we find that an ER transmembrane enzyme, sterol O-acyltransferase 2 (SOAT2), is overexpressed in regulatory T (Treg) cells from elderly patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC), while radiomics analysis of LSCC patients associates increased SOAT2 expression with reduced immune infiltration and poor prognosis.

There are evidences to support the role of gut microbiota as a key player in reproductive development. Unfortunately, the relationship between reproductive disorders caused by aging and gut microbiota remains largely unknown.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAmyloidosis of the human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP) is closely related to the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and serves as both a diagnostic hallmark and a key therapeutic target for T2D. In this study, we discovered that oritavancin (Ori), a glycopeptide antibiotic primarily prescribed for Gram-positive bacterial infections, can dose-dependently inhibit recombinant hIAPP (rhIAPP) amyloid formation. Ori specifically inhibited rhIAPP amyloid formation at the initial nucleation stage but didn't affect mature rhIAPP fibrils.

However, there is limited understanding of the relationships between trace elements and AMI in real-life co-exposure scenarios, where multiple elements may interact simultaneously. This cross-sectional study measured serum levels of 56 trace elements using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.
