Background: The modification of endothelial cells (ECs) biological function under pathogenic conditions leads to the expression of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) markers, defined as endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT). Invisible in onset and slow in progression, atherosclerosis (AS) is a potential contributor to various atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (ASCVD). By triggering AS, EndMT, the "initiator" of AS, induces the progression of ASCVD such as coronary atherosclerotic heart disease (CHD) and ischemic cerebrovascular disease (ICD), with serious clinical complications such as myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke.

Objective: To investigate the nutritional status, height development and intellectual development level of rural children aged 10-12 years in Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, and to analyze the relationship between the nutritional status and height development of local schoolchildren and their intellectual development.

Methods: In 2019, a total of 1721 students were selected from 8 counties(cities) under the jurisdiction of Linxia Prefecture in Gansu Province, with 1 township selected from each county in 5 directions: east, west, south, north, and central. One primary school was randomly selected from each township, and 45 students aged 10-12 were selected from each primary school.

Article Synopsis
  • The research addresses the low mechanical properties of biomass-based carbon aerogels, which limit their use in pressure sensing and energy storage for wearable tech and electronic skin.* -
  • A new supramolecular assembly structure inspired by natural wood was developed, utilizing bacterial cellulose and lignin, enhanced with graphene oxide for better performance.* -
  • The resulting carbon aerogels show remarkable features such as supercompressibility, high elasticity, stable sensor response, and impressive energy storage capabilities, making them ideal for wearable applications, even in extreme conditions.*

Background: Alterations in the degrees of milling (DOM) could significantly influence the odor of rice. A gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS)-based untargeted metabolomics method has been effectively employed to identify the differential volatiles among rice from various origins or varieties, although it has not been utilized to identify the differential volatiles among cooked rice with different DOM.

Results: Fifty volatile compounds were detected in cooked brown rice (CBR), cooked medium-milled rice (CMMR) and cooked well-milled rice (CWMR) of the four fragrant Simiao rice by GC-MS.
