The behavior of vicinal Si(001) surfaces are a subject of intense research for years, yet the mechanism behind its step modulation remains unresolved. Step B, in particular, can meander randomly or form a periodic zigzag profile, a surface phenomenon that has eluded explanation due to the lack of appropriate simulation tools. Here, a multiscale simulation strategy, enhanced by machine learning potentials are proposed, to investigate this mesoscale behavior.

The low stability of water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) double emulsions greatly limits their applications. Therefore, in this study, W/O/W Pickering double emulsions (PDEs) were prepared by a two-step emulsification method using polyglycerol polyricinoleate (PGPR) and xanthan gum/lysozyme nanoparticles (XG/Ly NPs) as lipophilic and hydrophilic emulsifiers, respectively. The regulation mechanism of the performance of PDEs by XG/Ly NPs was investigated, and the ability of the system to co-encapsulate epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and β-carotene was evaluated.

Purpose: Lipids increase osteoporosis and fracture risk, yet research on Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP), bone mineral density declines (BMD), and trabecular bone score (TBS) is limited. This study examined the relationships between AIP, TBS, and BMD in American adults using the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data, including the effect of obesity.

Methods: Based on data from 3,162 Americans, multivariable logistic regression and a generalized additive model (GAM) were used to analyze AIP, BMD, and TBS.
