Objective: ASTHMAXcel Perception is an expansion of prior ASTHMAXcel mobile health applications for children with asthma. ASTHMAXcel Perception was evaluated for its ability to improve asthma control and perception of airflow limitation.
Methods: Patients with asthma ages 15-21 were randomized to receive ASTHMAXcel Perception with peak expiratory flow (PEF) feedback or usual care (UC).

Nanotechnology is an emerging field that involves the development of nanoscale particles, their fabrication methods, and potential applications. From nanosized inorganic particles to biopolymers, the variety of nanoparticles is unstoppably growing, offering huge opportunities for drug delivery. Various nanoformulations, such as nanoparticles, nanocomposites, and nanoemulsions, have been developed to enhance drug stability, solubility, and tissue penetration.

Methods: Adults 60 and over with asthma were recruited and interviewed about their experiences of asthma, depression, and other psychosocial factors over three time points (Baseline, 6-month, and 12-month visits). Structural equation models examined the mediating roles of coping styles in the relationship between depressive symptoms (assessed by BDI-II) and asthma outcomes (i.
There is a greater prevalence of cognitive impairment among ethnic and/or racial minorities, and cognitive impairment is a barrier to asthma self-management (SM) behaviors and outcomes in older adults. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between cognitive impairment, assessed by using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and asthma SM behaviors and outcomes in a sample of predominantly Black and Latino participants. In addition, we evaluated whether using two different MoCA cutoff scores influenced the association between cognitive impairment and asthma outcomes.

This study aims to demonstrate various approaches for discovering new targets for precision therapies using artificial intelligence (AI) on a Polish cohort of colorectal cancer patients.
Methods: We analyzed 71 patients with histopathologically confirmed advanced resectional colorectal adenocarcinoma.
Over the past few years, numerous bacterial strains have become resistant to selected drugs from various therapeutic groups. A potential tool in the fight against these strains is antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (APDT). APDT acts in a non-specific manner by generating reactive oxygen species and radicals, thereby inducing multidimensional intracellular effects.

Their photodynamic and sonodynamic activity were then assessed toward bacteria and cancer cells. Additionally, inhibition activity against common human enzymes was evaluated.

The optimal timing for ileostomy closure remains debatable. Defining the timing associated with the best postoperative outcomes can significantly improve the clinical results for patients undergoing ileostomy closure.

This review highlights that despite years of research, many recurring challenges and issues remain unresolved. The paper includes an analysis of selected essential studies involving aminolevulinic acid and its derivatives, as well as other photosensitizers with potential for development as medical products.

An alternative to primary wound suturing by single sutures or purse string sutures (PSS) is applying incisional negative pressure wound therapy (iNPWT). The aim of the following systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess and compare clinical outcomes in patients after PSS and iNPWT use.

Background: Spleen preservation during laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LSPDP) should be pursued if safe and oncologically justified. The aim of the presented study was to compare surgical outcomes and identify risk factors for unplanned splenectomy during laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy and evaluate short and long-terms outcomes.
Methods: The following study is a retrospective cohort study of consecutive patients who underwent laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy, with the intention of preserving the spleen, for benign tumors of the body and tail of the pancreas between August 2012 and December 2022.
Background: Mast cell leukemia (MCL), a subtype of systemic mastocytosis (SM), is an extremely rare clinical entity characterized by a very poor prognosis. Chemotherapy, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, and allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation are the only treatment options, but they cannot provide the desired outcomes in most cases of MCL. However, other types of SM can be successfully treated.

Aim: The primary goal of the study was to identify the risk of postoperative complications in patients undergoing colostomy liquidation.

Introduction: Ileostomy reversal is a common surgical procedure and currently standardized perioperative and surgical protocols are lacking.

Aim: LILEO study was designed to perform a multicenter analysis on numerous perioperative parameters and estimation of the incidence of postoperative complications.

Materials and methods: The study is an open multicenter prospective cohort study.

One-anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB), a modification of RYGB, ranks as the third most common bariatric procedure in Poland. While clinical trials show that OAGB outcomes are comparable to those of RYGB regarding weight loss, remission of comorbidities, and hormonal impact, there is limited data on long-term outcomes and complications.

Despite the numerous advantages of this class of compounds, only two mini-reviews discuss the subject of esterquats: the first one (2007) briefly summarizes their types, synthesis, and structural elements required for a beneficial environmental profile and only briefly covers their applications whereas the second one only reviews the stability of selected betaine-type esterquats in aqueous solutions. The rationale for writing this review is to critically reevaluate the relevant literature and provide others with a "state-of-the-art" snapshot of choline-type esterquats and betaine-type esterquats.

Until recently, individuals had to take selumetinib twice daily (BID) in a fasted state. This study evaluated the effect of a low-fat meal on selumetinib PK parameters and gastrointestinal (GI) tolerability in adolescent participants with NF1-PN.

Methods: This is a retrospective study performed on consecutive patients who underwent L-RAMPS and LDP with splenectomy for resectable or borderline resectable PDAC of the body and tail. In this paper, we presented our technique of laparoscopic RAMPS and analyzed intraoperative and perioperative complications, oncological efficacy, and long-term survival.

Introduction: The determinants influencing the risk for complications of laparoscopic distal pancreatectomies (LDP) are not yet fully defined, thus we aimed to determine risk factors for serious perioperative morbidity after LDP with spleen preservation, LDP and radical antegrade modular pancreatosplenectomy for adenocarcinoma of the body and tail of the pancreas (RAMPS).

Material and methods: Retrospective cohort study of consecutive patients that underwent LDP between January 2019 and December 2022. The study group included cases of serious perioperative morbidity (III-V grades in Clavien-Dindo classification) during a 30-day period after operation.

While redo bariatric surgery has demonstrated its effectiveness, there is still a subset of patients who may not derive any benefits from it. Summary: Drug waste is a substantial target of cost-saving efforts in the areas of oncology and autoimmune therapy, which involve use of a vast number of high-cost medications packaged in single-dose vials of varying strength. To facilitate selection of the optimal combination of medication vials and thereby minimize preventable drug waste, a Microsoft Excel-based calculator was developed for use by staff of a large oncology pharmacy network.
