Introduction: Circadian rhythms are responsible for physiological and behavioral processes coordinated in a 24-hour cycle. We investigated whether untimed, long-term voluntary wheel access mitigated circadian disruption and facilitated re-entrainment. Methods: Thirty-four C57Bl/6 J mice (n = 21 males, n = 14 females) were used in this experiment.

Background: The Veterans Aging Cohort Study (VACS) Index is a summary measure of routinely obtained clinical variables that predicts numerous health outcomes. Since there are currently no tools to predict acute kidney injury (AKI) in persons with HIV (PWH), we investigated the association of preadmission VACS Index with hospital AKI in PWH.
Methods: We conducted an observational study of PWH hospitalized in a New York City health system between 2010-2019.
Background: Injectable depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) is the most common contraceptive choice among young women in Uganda, where HIV burden is high and HIV preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) may be offered. For young women who choose to use both agents concurrently, it is unknown whether they will experience declines in bone mineral density (BMD) beyond those elicited by either product singly.
Methods: From 2018 to 2022, we conducted a 2-year prospective study with women ages 16-25 years in Kampala, Uganda desiring pregnancy and HIV prevention.
In Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), diaphragm muscle dysfunction results in respiratory insufficiency which is a leading cause of death in patients. Mutations to the dystrophin gene result in myocyte membrane instability, contributing to the structural deterioration of the diaphragm muscle tissues. With previous works suggesting the importance of lipin1 for maintaining skeletal muscle membrane integrity, we explored the roles of lipin1 in the dystrophic diaphragm.

The influence of activity on the characteristics or specific location of the lesion within a capitellar zone of propensity remains unclear.
Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to evaluate COCD in gymnasts and baseball players compared with a non-upper extremity (non-UE) sport COCD cohort.
Background: The common Eastern bumble bee Bombus impatiens is native to North America and is the main commercially reared pollinator in the Americas. There has been extensive research on this species related to its social biology, applied pollination, and genetics. The genome of this species was previously sequenced using short-read technology, but recent technological advances provide an opportunity for substantial improvements.

In the present study, we assess whether the second of these processes occurs as a by-product of the first process-namely, does accessing the message-level representation of the referent provide access to the features required to determine pronoun form, meaning that pronouns should be robust to errors, or are pronoun features determined through an agreement operation with the antecedent, in which case they may be susceptible to agreement attraction, similar to subject-verb agreement. Prior lab experiments suggest that pronouns display number attraction at a similar rate to verbs.

Design: Cross-sectional study.
Setting: Biomechanics laboratory.
Objectives: To determine baseline prevalence of proteinuria and albuminuria among participants from the Randomized Trial to Prevent Vascular Events in HIV (REPRIEVE) and evaluate associated risk factors.
Design: Cross sectional analysis of a baseline sample of participants from the REPRIEVE Trial.
Methods: REPRIEVE is an international primary cardiovascular prevention randomized controlled trial (RCT) of pitavastatin calcium vs.
Background: Imaging evaluation of acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) in animal or clinical models is limited to anatomical assessment of the location and extent of thrombi. We hypothesize that Fe-MRI, used to evaluate macrophage content in other inflammatory diseases, can be useful to evaluate the thromboinflammatory features after DVT over time.
Methods: Nineteen wild-type CD-1 mice underwent surgical IVC ligation to induce DVT.

Aims: The oral health needs of frail older adults are increasing with an aging population in Canada. The objective of this study was to explore the perceptions of dentists in British Columbia regarding their view of geriatric dentistry as a distinct scope of practice and in relation to special needs dentistry.
Methods And Results: Qualitative data were gathered thorough semi guided interviews of a purposeful sample of dental clinicians, educators and members of organized dentistry with specialized knowledge of oral health for frail older adults.
People with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) are at risk for chronic kidney disease (CKD) due to HIV and antiretroviral therapy (ART) nephrotoxicity. Immediate ART initiation reduces mortality and is now the standard of care, but the long-term impact of prolonged ART exposure on CKD is unknown. To evaluate this, the Strategic Timing of Antiretroviral Treatment (START) trial randomized 4,684 ART-naïve adults with CD4 cell count under 500 cells/mm to immediate versus deferred ART.

Qualitative movement screenings have explored two-dimensional (2D) scoring criteria for DKV, however, there remains limited data on the validity of these screening tools. Determining a 2D scoring criterion for DKV that closely aligns with three-dimensional (3D) biomechanical measures will allow for the identification of poor knee position in adolescent athletes on a broad scale.

In edentulous LTC patients, the fabrication of complete dentures (CDs) can present challenges, leading to an increase in procedural or post-insertion appointments. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to document the number of fabrication and post-insertion follow-up appointments for CDs in frail older adults residing in LTC facilities.

This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of CKD and identify risk factors for traditional CKD and CKDu in Nicaragua.
Methods: Surveys and assessment for CKD markers in urine and serum were performed in 15-59 year olds in households of the León municipality of Nicaragua.

Background: The Expanded Cutting Alignment Scoring Tool (E-CAST) has been previously shown to be reliable when assessing lower extremity alignment during a 45-degree sidestep cut, however, the validity of this tool remains unknown. The purpose of this study was to assess the concurrent validity of the E-CAST by comparing visually identified movement errors from two-dimensional (2D) video with three-dimensional (3D) biomechanical variables collected using motion capture.
Study Design: Cross Sectional.
