Nonlinear electron transport induced by polarized terahertz radiation is studied in two-dimensional tellurene at room temperature. A direct current, quadratic in the radiation's electric field, is observed. Contributions sensitive to radiation helicity and polarization orientation as well as polarization independent current are found.

Host iron deficiency is protective against severe malaria as the human malaria parasite depends on bioavailable iron from its host to proliferate. The essential pathways of iron acquisition, storage, export, and detoxification in the parasite differ from those in humans, as orthologs of the mammalian transferrin receptor, ferritin, or ferroportin, and a functional heme oxygenase are absent in . Thus, the proteins involved in these processes may be excellent targets for therapeutic development, yet remain largely unknown.

We observed a positive peak followed by a wide negative trough, with the latter being most evident in early epochs. We argue that the overall response morphology captures the effects of two simultaneous, but independent, response mechanisms that are both activated at the stimulus onset: one being the obligatory response to a sound stimulus by the auditory system, and the other being a neural suppression effect induced by the arousal system.

The objective of this study was to describe the effectiveness of LDBI using novel titration schedules with buccal films.
Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of hospitalized patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) or physiologic dependence to opioids who underwent LDBI with buprenorphine buccal films at NYU Langone Health.
Burmese amber is a significant source of fossils that documents the mid-Cretaceous biota. Objective: We aimed to investigate the value of specific video-oculographic parameters for the use as diagnostic markers in PSP.
Methods: An analysis of video-oculography recordings of 100 PSP patients and 49 age-matched healthy control subjects was performed.
The Plasmodium falciparum M1 alanyl aminopeptidase and M17 leucyl aminopeptidase, PfM1AAP and PfM17LAP, are potential targets for novel anti-malarial drug development. Inhibitors of these aminopeptidases have been shown to kill malaria parasites in culture and reduce parasite growth in murine models. The two enzymes may function in the terminal stages of haemoglobin digestion, providing free amino acids for protein synthesis by the rapidly growing intra-erythrocytic parasites.

Antiferromagnets are enriching spintronics research by many favorable properties that include insensitivity to magnetic fields, neuromorphic memory characteristics, and ultra-fast spin dynamics.
