Objective: To understand the discharge planning needs of family caregivers for the elderly with nasal feeding.
Methods: From May to August in 2021, in-depth interviews were conducted with eleven family caregivers for elderly patients with nasal feeding at a tertiary hospital in Shenzhen. The interviews were analyzed using phenomenological research methods and the Knowledge, Awareness, and Practice (KAP) theory to identify and refine key themes.
Older adults with hypertension often had diminished walking performance. The underlying mechanism through which hypertension affects walking performance, however, has not been fully understood. We here measured the complexity of the continuous systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood pressure fluctuation, grade of white matter lesions (WMLs), and cognitive function and used structural equation modeling (SEM) to examine the interrelationships between hypertension, BP complexity, WMLs, cognitive function, and walking speed in single- and dual-task conditions.

The blood pressure (BP) is regulated by complex underlying mechanisms over multiple time scales, thus the continuous beat-to-beat BP fluctuation is complex. The association between WMLs and hypertension may be manifested as diminished complexity of BP fluctuations.
