Objective: To study the bacterial community structure of the microbiota in the vaginal fluid from patients with bacterial vaginosis.

Methods: The composition of bacteria in the samples of vaginal fluid from 3 patients with bacterial vaginosis and 1 normal premenopausal control was investigated by amplified ribosomal DNA restriction analysis(ARDRA).

Results: Lactobacillus species were the predominant bacteria in the woman without bacterial vaginosis.

Article Synopsis
  • Three acid mine drainage (AMD) samples from Dabaoshan Mine in Guangdong, China, were analyzed for their physicochemical properties and archaeal community diversity using ARDRA, revealing nine distinct genetic patterns.
  • Most archaeal clones were identified as belonging to the Thermoplasmatales group, with notable absence of Sulfolobales, and only one prevalent OTU linked to Ferroplasma was found across all samples.
  • The study also identified eight OTUs related to two new undefined groups within Thermoplasmatales, highlighting similarities with archaeal communities from other abandoned and closed mine sites, and noted that the high temperatures of the sampling locations likely contributed to the observed community composition.
