Background: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths. EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors, such as erlotinib, were approved for non-small cell lung carcinoma patients with EGFR mutations. However, the acquired resistance of these inhibitors has not been fully clarified.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFEpigenetic editing, an emerging technique used for the modulation of gene expression in mammalian cells, is a promising strategy to correct disease-related gene expression. Although epigenetic reprogramming results in sustained transcriptional modulation in several in vivo models, further studies are needed to develop this approach into a straightforward technology for effective and specific interventions. Important goals of current research efforts are understanding the context-dependency of successful epigenetic editing and finding the most effective epigenetic effector(s) for specific tasks.

The purpose of this study was to explore the early clinical characteristics of COVID-19 patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD).
Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of patients with COVID-19 from a single centre.
The abnormal diameter of the coronary artery is twice or more than the normal diameter, which is a coronary artery aneurysm (CAA). According to the clinical statistics, CAA shows high occurrence on right coronary artery (RCA). The most common cause of CAA in adults is atherosclerosis, which destroys the elastic fibers in the middle layer of the blood vessel.

COVID-19 emerges as a pandemic disease with high mortality. Development of effective prevention and treatment is an urgent need. We reviewed TH17 responses in patients with SARS-CoV-2 and proposed an FDA approved JAK2 inhibitor Fedratinib for reducing mortality of patients with TH17 type immune profiles.

Abnormal ANGTPL4 levels are associated with metabolic syndrome, atherosclerosis, inflammation, and cancer. We show here that ANGPTL4-deficient mice have abnormally large numbers of macrophages in the spleen, and that these macrophages produce large amounts of TNF-α, CD86, and inducible nitric oxide synthase.

It is requirement to discover novel molecular biomarkers to differentiate malignant thyroid nodule more precise.
Methods: We employed weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) to discover genes significantly associated with malignant histopathology for cytological indeterminate nodules.

Increased granulosa cell (GC) proliferation may contribute to abnormal folliculogenesis in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which affects approximately 10% reproductive aged women. However, the mechanisms underlying increased GC proliferation in PCOS remain incompletely understood. In this study, we identified miR-3940-5p as a hub miRNA in GC from PCOS using weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), and real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis confirmed that miR-3940-5p was significantly increased in GC from PCOS.

Herein, a new ultrastable PtCo/CoO-SiO nanocatalyst was explored to improve the catalytic performance of carbon monoxide (CO) oxidation by virtue of the surface active lattice oxygen derived from strong metal-support interactions. Such a structure can overcome the issues of CoO-SiO inactivation by water vapor and the Pt inferior activity at low temperature.

Based on Fano resonance, an on-chip high-sensitivity sensor, composed of two waveguides coupling with a symmetry breaking ring resonator, is theoretically and numerically investigated. The established theoretical model agrees well with the finite-difference time-domain simulations, which reveals the physics of Fano resonance.

However, it remains poorly defined how autophagy regulates adipocyte development. Using adipose-specific knockout (KO), KO and double-KO mice, we show that inhibiting MTORC1 by RPTOR deficiency led to autophagic sequestration of lipid droplets, formation of LD-containing lysosomes, and elevation of basal and isoproterenol-induced lipolysis and in primary adipocytes.

In the current study, we found that the cytokine suppressor CIS (cytokine induced SH-2 protein) is required for maintenance of Treg cell identity. Mice with Treg-specific Cis-deficiency displayed aggravated experimental allergic asthma, and in adulthood, developed splenomegaly, lymphadenopathy and spontaneous eosinophilic airway inflammation, accompanied by accumulation of effector memory helper T (TH) cells.

However, few related studies about effects of α-hederin on gastric cancer are available. Herein, our results showed that α-hederin significantly inhibited the proliferation of gastric cancer cells and arrested the cell cycle in G1 phase in vitro (p < .

NLRP3 inflammasome activity must be tightly controlled, as its over-activation is involved in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases. Here, we show that NLRP3 inflammasome activation is suppressed by a centrosomal protein Spata2.

With the 12-23-mon IPI as the reference category, logistic regression analyzes were used to examine associations between different IPIs (<12, 12-23, 24-59, 60-119, and ≥120 mon) and perinatal outcomes (gestational diabetes mellitus, premature membrane rupture, gestational hypertension, preterm birth, low birth weight, and macrosomia). Compared with the 12-23-mon IPI category, women with longer IPIs had a higher risk of adverse perinatal outcomes, and those with an IPI ≥120 mon had the highest risk of gestational diabetes mellitus and premature membrane rupture (adjusted odds ratio (OR) 1.
