In 2019/2020, two out of three boroughs reviewed in this study were in the bottom 10% of boroughs compared with others within England. Stroke National Audit data for these three boroughs from 2019 to 2020 identified that in patients with known AF admitted to hospital with strokes, 37% were not anticoagulated.

Modified Delphi Consensus on Interventions for Acute Radiation Dermatitis in Breast Cancer: A Canadian Expert Perspective.

Acute radiation dermatitis (ARD) is a prevalent adverse effect of radiotherapy in patients with breast cancer, and there is a lack of high-quality data regarding its prevention and management. This study employs a systematic and iterative process to compile the perspectives of Canadian radiation oncology, nursing, and dermatology experts, aiming to establish consensus-based recommendations for the prevention and management of ARD in breast cancer patients. A modified Delphi consensus was conducted with the participation of 19 experts from across Canada.

Methods: This retrospective study was conducted using 100% Medicare claims data (2015-2020). Patients with la/mUC were selected; initiation of first-line therapy was the index date.

Purpose: Assessing the long-term impact of cancer on people's lives is challenging due to confounding issues such as aging and comorbidities. We aimed to investigate this impact by comparing the outcomes of cancer survivors with a matched control cohort.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional survey of breast, colorectal and ovarian cancer survivors approximately 5 years post-diagnosis and a cohort of age, sex and social deprivation-matched controls who had never had a cancer diagnosis.

The transthyretin (TTR) tetramer, assembled as a dimer of dimers, transports thyroxine and retinol binding protein in blood plasma and cerebrospinal fluid. Aggregation of wild type or pathogenic variant TTR leads to transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR), which is associated with neurodegenerative and cardiac disease. The trigger for TTR aggregation under physiological conditions is unknown.

A framework for developing Generic Implant Safety Procedures (GISPs) for scanning patients with medical implants and devices in MRI.

UK guidelines for MR safety recommend that MRI departments refer to the implant manufacturer for advice regarding the MRI safety of scanning patients with an implantable medical device prior to scanning [1]. This process of assuring safety can be time consuming, leading to delays and potential cancellations of a patient's MRI. Furthermore, at times the implant cannot be identified, or the implant manufacturers cannot provide up to date MRI safety information.

The development of an augmented reality application for exercise prescription within paediatric oncology: App design and protocol of a pilot study.

Children and young people with cancer face barriers when engaging with exercise, such as treatment-related side effects, psychosocial burdens and lack of individualised provisions. Digital health tools, such as smartphone applications, have emerged as a promising driver to support healthcare provisions in exercise prescription among patients. It is vital to explore how such technologies can be developed more effectively in order to strengthen the evidence supporting their use and for more appropriate implementation within healthcare.

Development and Optimization of a Bladder Cancer Algorithm Using SEER-Medicare Claims Data.

Purpose: Categorizing patients with cancer by their disease stage can be an important tool when conducting administrative claims-based studies. As claims databases frequently do not capture this information, algorithms are increasingly used to define disease stage. To our knowledge, to date, no study has used an algorithm to categorize patients with bladder cancer (BC) by disease stage (non-muscle-invasive BC [NMIBC], muscle-invasive BC [MIBC], or locally advanced/metastatic urothelial carcinoma [la/mUC]) in a US-based health care claims database.

Zinc triazolate oxalate CALF-20 with platelet morphology and its PEBAX-based mixed matrix membranes for CO/N separation.

CALF-20, [Zn(1,2,4-triazolate)(oxalate)] shows remarkable performance in post-combustion carbon capture, even under humid conditions but its reported crystal morphology hinders its applicability in mixed matrix membranes (MMMs). Here, a route to its preparation as platelets a few tens of nm thick is reported. These were incorporated into a PEBAX MH1567 polymer matrix and the resultant MMMs display improvement in CO permeability and CO/N selectivity.
