Article Synopsis
  • The research focuses on the relationship between soil mechanics and the types of parent rocks found on Mount Bambouto’s southern slopes, specifically under hot and humid conditions.
  • Four rock types were identified—trachybasalt, orthogneiss, anatexite, and biotite-hornblende granitoid—which influence the qualities of soils used for construction, such as compressed earth bricks and pavement layers.
  • The article suggests methods for selecting suitable soils for construction purposes based on the underlying geology and climate, presenting models for creating masonry units and pavement layers efficiently.

In this work, we explored a novel approach to integrate both geo-environmental and soil geomechanical parameters in a landslide susceptibility model. A total of 179 shallow to deep landslides were identified using Google Earth images and field observations. Moreover, soil geomechanical properties of 11 representative soil samples were analyzed.
