Adolescence is s period of storm and stress mainly caused by dramatic social, emotional, biological, and psychological changes. Unless supported and guided by parents, teachers, peers, and other stakeholders, they may be exposed to a variety of risky sexual behaviors. In the study area, there is no research work showing the influences of peers, self-esteem, and demographic factors on the premarital sexual practice among students.

Globally Unwanted pregnancy is a health related problem that affects girls, their families and social order. Of an estimated 210 million pregnancies that take place in the world each year, 38% are unwanted, out of which 22% end up with abortion. Unwanted pregnancy among teenagers is a serious risk health related problem in Ethiopia.
