Article Synopsis
  • The CRUSADE score is used to assess in-hospital bleeding risks for patients with NSTEMI going through PCI, particularly in Asian populations like those in Thailand.
  • A study was conducted using data from the Thai PCI registry to validate and simplify the CRUSADE score, concluding that both the original and a revised version accurately predicted major bleeding outcomes.
  • The final simplified version of the CRUSADE score, which only incorporates four key factors, also demonstrated strong predictive ability, indicating its effectiveness in the Thai NSTEMI patient population.

Background: Bleeding following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has important prognostic implications. The Academic Research Consortium (ARC) have identified a set of clinical criteria to standardize the definition of a high bleeding risk (HBR). Current study sought to externally validate the ARC definition for HBR patients in a contemporary real-world cohort.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines how adherence to adjunctive use criteria (AUC) for intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) impacts clinical outcomes in low IVUS volume countries, specifically in Thailand, where over 21,000 patients were analyzed.
  • It found that 75.8% of patients met the AUC, with a higher rate of IVUS-guided PCI performed in that group compared to those who did not meet the criteria.
  • Despite an increase in complications associated with IVUS-guided PCI, the overall procedural success rates improved regardless of AUC adherence, suggesting that IVUS could be beneficial even in cases that do not strictly meet the criteria.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on validating the ACUITY/HORIZON risk score for predicting bleeding in patients undergoing PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) in a large Thai registry of ACS (acute coronary syndrome) patients.
  • Results showed that both original and updated models overestimated bleeding risk, but the updated model improved prediction accuracy by incorporating factors like congestive heart failure, prior vascular disease, and body mass index.
  • The updated models exhibited good calibration and discriminatory capacity for predicting bleeding, demonstrating their effectiveness for real-world ACS patients regardless of the bleeding definitions used.

Background: Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) practice and outcomes vary substantially in different parts of the world. The contemporary data of PCI in Asia are limited and only available from developed Asian countries.

Objectives: To explore the pattern of practice and results of PCI procedures in Thailand as well as a temporal change of PCI practice over time compared with the registry from other countries.

Background: Administration of intracoronary (IC) adenosine allows an easily feasible, inexpensive, and more rapid alternative method for fractional flow reserve (FFR). It is common practice in many centers worldwide. Nicardipine is a strong coronary vasodilator but its efficacy and safety for assessing FFR is not established.

Purpose: To establish national diagnostic reference levels (DRLs) for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in Thailand for lesions of different complexity.

Methods: Radiation dose quantity as kerma-area-product (KAP) and cumulative air-kerma at reference point (CAK) from 76 catheterization labs in 38 hospitals in PCI registry of Thailand was transferred online to central data management. Sixteen months data (May 2018 to August 2019) was analyzed.

Alice in Wonderland syndrome (AIWS) is a rarely curious visual perceptual disorder which has been associated with diverse neurologic and psychiatric problems. It may be a manifestation in migraine, epileptic seizures, encephalitis, other brain lesions, medication-related side effects, schizophrenia, and depressive disorders. Principal character of AIWS is the disproportion between the external world and the self-image in which micropsia (objects appear smaller), macropsia (objects appear larger), and teleopsia (objects appear further away) are frequently reported.

Introduction: The inflammatory response plays a potential role for the pathogenesis and adverse outcomes of heart failure (HF). We aimed to explore the predictive role of baseline neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and mean platelet volume-to-lymphocyte ratio (MPVLR) on cardiovascular events (CVEs) in patients hospitalized with acute HF.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted in 321 patients with HF between January 2017 and December 2019.

Objective: To determine the demographics and in-hospital outcomes of patients with acute coronary syndrome. It provides a real-life data to assess treatment strategies for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients.

Material And Method: The prospective study included patients who were hospitalized with the diagnosis of ACS during January to December, 2013.
