Objective: To determine the upgrade rate of exclusively MRI-detected benign papillomas in asymptomatic high-risk patients, patients with a history of cancer, or patients with known malignancy.

Methods: This IRB-approved retrospective study reviewed all breast MRI-guided biopsies yielding papilloma on pathology for all asymptomatic patients undergoing breast MRI for high-risk screening, newly diagnosed breast cancer, or a personal history of breast cancer. All cases were followed by excision or 2-year imaging follow-up.

Performance of an AI-powered visualization software platform for precision surgery in breast cancer patients.

Surgery remains the primary treatment modality in the management of early-stage invasive breast cancer. Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered visualization platforms offer the compelling potential to aid surgeons in evaluating the tumor's location and morphology within the breast and accordingly optimize their surgical approach. We sought to validate an AI platform that employs dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) to render three-dimensional (3D) representations of the tumor and 5 additional chest tissues, offering clear visualizations as well as functionalities for quantifying tumor morphology, tumor-to-landmark structure distances, excision volumes, and approximate surgical margins.

Introduction: Emergency department (ED) peer-delivered interventions have been implemented across the country to improve outcomes for people who use drugs. In this study we describe what elements patients believe led to a positive interaction with a certified peer recovery support specialist (CPRSS) in the ED and discuss implications when those elements were missing.

Methods: This is a qualitatively driven mixed methods study embedded within a larger longitudinal study.

Exploration of VR in medicine to augment educational experiences and aid in procedural training began in the 1990s. Surgeons have benefited from VR, both for training and planning purposes.

Breast cylindroma: A rare and unexpected diagnosis.

Cylindroma is a benign adnexal tumor histologically characterized by clusters of small basaloid cells arranged in a pattern resembling a jigsaw puzzle. Breast cylindromas are extremely rare with approximately 20 reported cases throughout literature. We present a case of a 71-year-old female with a slow growing cystic breast mass, originally identified 8 years prior to biopsy.

The Role of Predeployment Retraction in Biopsy Marker Migration During Stereotactic Breast Biopsies: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Objective: Inaccurate breast biopsy marker placement and marker migration during stereotactic biopsy procedures compromise their reliability for lesion localization and precise surgical excision. This trial evaluated the impact of 5-mm predeployment retraction of the marker introducer on marker migration, investigating other potential factors that influence the outcome.

Methods: This parallel, randomized controlled trial enrolled women aged ≥18 years undergoing stereotactic breast biopsy at a single institution from May 2020 through August 2022.

Desertification is a major threat to biodiversity in arid areas of the world, partly because many organisms in these regions already exist at or near the limits of their movement and physiology. Here, we used molecular data to investigate patterns of persistence and dispersal in an ecologically and economically important carpenter bee ( Lepeletier) found throughout the semiarid Caatinga region of Brazil. We used a genome-wide approach (double digest restriction-site associated DNA, ddRAD) to gather genetic data from bees sampled from eight sites within a semiarid region subject to desertification in Northeastern Brazil.

In this case report, we will discuss the ultrafast sequence findings of a bilateral male breast cancer with different subtypes on his staging dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE) MRI with ultrafast technique. A 94-year-old male presented with bilateral palpable complaints in his breasts.

Providing brief interventions by certified peer recovery support specialists (CPRSS) in the emergency department (ED) following a drug related visit is a promising method of service engagement and has garnered national attention. This study examines CPRSS's perceptions of the qualities that enable them to deliver interventions in the ED. We conducted qualitative interviews with 14 CPRSSs working in EDs.

Purpose: Extensive data exist regarding the importance of baseline mammography and screening recommendations in the age range of 40-50 years old, however, less is known about women who start screening at age 60. The purpose of this retrospective study is to assess the characteristics and outcomes of women aged 60 years and older presenting for baseline mammographic screening.

Methods: This is an IRB-approved single institution retrospective review of data from patients aged 60+ receiving baseline screening mammograms between 2010 and 2022 was obtained.

Introduction: The battle along Antietam Creek in September 1862 was pivotal in shaping future combat medical readiness practices. With the full confidence of his commander, Major (Dr) Jonathan Letterman implemented an innovative ambulance corps system, which contributed immensely to modern-day battlefield medicine. Contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) is an increasingly accepted emerging imaging modality that demonstrates a similar sensitivity to MRI but has the advantage of being less time consuming and inexpensive. A multi-faceted antimicrobial stewardship programme contributed to a 17.8% reduction in antibiotic consumption for our English NHS Trust.
