Data Sources: In November 2019, the researchers searched CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) and MEDLINE databases for articles related to caregivers and their experiences with PI prevention and care.

Study Selection: Twenty-eight qualitative studies were included in this review.

Objective: To investigate the long-term clinical outcomes of pallidal deep brain stimulation (GPi-DBS) in patients with pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN).

Methods: We reviewed the records of patients with genetically confirmed PKAN who received bilateral GPi-DBS for refractory dystonia and were clinically followed up for at least 2 years postoperatively at two centers in Korea. Pre- and postoperative Burke- Fahn-Marsden Dystonia Rating Scale motor subscale (BFMDRS-M) scores, disability subscale (BFMDRS-D) scores, and qualitative clinical information were prospectively collected.

Development and validation of a novel nomogram to predict diabetic kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus and proteinuric kidney disease.

Purpose: Differentiating between diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and non-diabetic kidney disease (NDKD) in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is important due to implications on treatment and prognosis. Clinical methods to accurately distinguish DKD from NDKD are lacking. We aimed to develop and validate a novel nomogram to predict DKD in patients with T2DM and proteinuric kidney disease to guide decision for kidney biopsy.

Synergetic interaction among Ag nanoparticles (Ag NPs), reduced graphene oxide (rGO) films, and self-assembled block-copolymer (BCP) layers enables effective suppression of dendritic Li growth. While Ag NP layer confines the growth of Li metal underneath the rGO layer, BCP layer facilitates the fast and uniformly distributed flux of Li-ion transport and mechanically supports the rGO layer.

Background: Individuals with advanced Parkinson's Disease (PD) and Parkinson-related disorders (PRD) are frequently referred for home allied therapies and nursing care, yet home healthcare professionals have limited training in PD/PRD. While recognizing the need for such care, patients and families report home healthcare professionals are unfamiliar with these conditions, which may be driven by neurophobia and may contribute to suboptimal care and early termination of services. We sought to determine the feasibility and effects of a virtual, multimodal educational intervention on PD knowledge, confidence, and empathy among home health professionals.

In this review, we summarize the evidence on ICT tools used in DFU prevention programs and associated outcomes.

Influence of wafer quality on chip size-dependent efficiency variation in blue and green micro light-emitting diodes.

We propose a key factor associated with both surface recombination velocity and radiative efficiency of an LED to estimate its chip size-dependent radiative efficiencies. The validity of the suggested factor is verified through experimental comparison between various LED wafers. Efficiencies of micro-LEDs from a blue and two green LED wafers are examined by temperature-dependent photoluminescence experiments.

COVID-19 vaccination readiness among multiple racial and ethnic groups in the San Francisco Bay Area: A qualitative analysis.

Background: COVID-19 vaccination rates are lower among historically marginalized populations, including Black/African American and Latinx populations, threatening to contribute to already high COVID-19 morbidity and mortality disparities for these groups. We conducted a community-based participatory research study using qualitative methods to explore knowledge and beliefs about COVID-19 vaccination among Black/African American, Latinx, and Chinese American residents of the San Francisco Bay Area and assess their views on vaccination outreach and delivery strategies.

Methods And Findings: Data were collected from January 14, 2021, to February 24, 2021, with adult residents (N = 109 [Female: N = 76; 70%]) in San Francisco.

Chronic disease prevention and management requires a lifelong commitment and adherence to lifestyle modifications, monitoring of symptoms, medication use, and other forms of therapy. Treatment adherence is a crucial and complex concept in patient care provision, and it requires the voluntary active involvement of patients for the best possible outcome. Multiple factors, which may or may not be under the patient's control, can influence treatment adherence.

Stakeholder perspectives on education in aortic dissection.

The Aortic Dissection (AD) Collaborative was established to evaluate patient-centered research priorities in AD. Education was identified as a topic of interest by the stakeholders. The AD Collaborative Education Working Group evaluated existing educational resources and identified areas amenable to comparative effectiveness research.

A mixed method approach to understanding the impact of COVID-19 on patients with or at risk for aortic dissection.

Aortic dissection (AD) is a life-threatening rare disease that occurs as a spontaneous tear in the wall of the aorta. Survivors of AD go on to have a chronic disease process that requires lifelong follow-up and management. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has strained health systems and impacted practice in the United States, the effects of these impacts on people living with or at risk for AD is not well understood.

Combined endoscopic endonasal and transorbital multiportal approach for complex skull base lesions involving multiple compartments.

Purpose: This study defines the specific areas that connect the surgical corridors of the endoscopic endonasal (EEA) and transorbital approach (TOA) to identify adequate clinical applications and perspectives of this combined multiportal approach.

Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent combined EEA and TOA procedures for various pathologies involving multiple compartments of the skull base were enrolled.

Results: A total of eight patients (2 chondrosarcomas, 2 meningiomas, 2 schwannomas, 1 glioma, and 1 traumatic optic neuropathy) were included between August 2016 and April 2021.

The Society for Vascular Surgery appropriate use criteria (AUC) for the management of intermittent claudication were created using the RAND appropriateness method, a validated and standardized method that combines the best available evidence from medical literature with expert opinion, using a modified Delphi process. These criteria serve as a framework on which individualized patient and clinician shared decision-making can grow. These criteria are not absolute.
